hi my 1.8ex it was my first time in ownership revving it all the way to 6k rpm plus in first gear off from red light. when i did i noticed it felt like the car cut out /stalled, as i looked down at the cluster i saw the rpm counter springing back from 6k . is that how it works , it feels as if engine is cut to stop it going to red line / doing damage to engine?

If by cutout/stalled you mean sudden loss of acceleration when you reach the rev limiter, then yes this is supposed to happen.

Won't do any damage to the engine, it's there to prevent damage. Not to mention vtec engines are designed to be revved :D

rev limiter.. You will do some damage but not straight away so best not to keep hitting it. Change gear just before you hit the limit...After a while you will want a Type-R ;)

Mine goes to 5k :( lol.

Maybe even less than that, the last thing I'm looking at while I've got my foot down is the tachometer...
oh i look at the tacho and the orange flashing lights on the left and then the noise of the K&N57i tells me to change up ;)

chris is gonna love this post

is the 1.8 designed to be revved hard, i mean is it safe?

I've had my FK2 for two years now and never had the balls to bring up just one rev light as I fear I might break my little engine

Give some tips on how to drive it

Do it... you will be surprised how much fun it is and you wont break it... the rev limiter wont let you.

The engine is designed as a high revving motor... It takes some getting used too, but the power is at the upper end.
