I picked up my brand new Civic Type S in alabaster silver 6 weeeks ago_On checking over car noticed a paint blemish on bonnet. Dealer agreed that this was a fault and arrrangements made for car to be inspected by staff from Honda. It was decided bonnet would be resprayed. On the tailgate there was bare metal which had not even been painted.

When I got car back I found even worse paintwork on bonnet and also other imperfections on nearside door. Took car back and was instructed to take car to the paint shop, this is where I MET THE MOST UNHELPFUL MEMBER OF STAFF. He basically said what do you expect, it will never be perfect. I went back to the dealer and vented my feelings. The car is now booked back in.
What annoys me is that the car will never be the same, only got 800 miles on the clock. Garage did try to swap bonnet with a car in showroom but did not match?
I have now contacted Honda to express my feelings.
Why could the car have not gone back to the factory and have it done properly, Honda happiness I dont think so.......taken the edge off owning my first new car somewhat.Am I right to complain?.:police:

I really feel your anger and disappointment
The factory cannt remedy paint defects...Its a production line
Youhave given them the opportunity to rectify the faults
They have not done so
If I were you. I would reject the car, under the Sale of Goods Act
Very easy to do.
Just tell Honda you are rejecting the car and want a refund ...or another
Personally, I would have a full refund and find another dealer

I agree with Robbo and Jack, reject it before it gets out of hand.

Thanks for the responses I did not know that I could reject the car and that because they have tried to remedy the fault then their obligation has been met.I will pursue it further. This was not mentioned to me by the dealer.

The dealer wouldn't be stupid enough to mention it, its the last thing that they need.

I would of personnel rejected the car on the same day I was due to pick it up. I checked my car over fully before paying for it. I noticed that the front body kit on the bumpers were not screwed in correctly and got it fixed there and then. The matts weren't fitted correctly and screwed down either.

You don't want to spend all that money on a brand new car and have it resprayed already, it won't be perfect anymore! REJECT the car, you have your consumer rights to do this!
