Looking to buy a Panasonic toughbook to use for datalogging fault finding on my car.

Just wondering what people think of these and what the differences are as I have seen a few, looking at buying a refurb one from a company that specialises in refurbishment of them.

Use them at work, very tough, often dropped, once when I left it on the roof of my car. Only problem I have found with them is the keyboard is very sensitive and the keys themselves snap off too easily.

Yeah our VW ODIS machine at work is just a toughbook, very expensive for an average laptop, however if you require a laptop that can take anything then yeah theres nothing better.

Apparently you can drive over them, but my boss isn't keen on me putting his 3k laptop to the test

Use them in work. They are very solid, just a shame our work system is s*** and they always crash and lose signal.

As para said the keyboard buttons can sometimes pop out but they are easy enough to stick back in.
Mines been dropped a few times but always works fine after. Just needs restarted sometimes after.

Don't drive over it but because they can break lol. One guy left it on top of his van and then it fell off on a dual carriageway. By the time he realised he drove back to find it in pieces :facepalm:
God knows how many times it got ran over mind you

I use one for work it's really solid

Only thing that niggles me is the screen rotate and screen brightness buttons on the front facing edge but for a laptop that u can drop and still use you may struggle to beat it ...mine slipped off van seat and hit the floor apart from
Scratch on corner it survived with no breakages

It's a cf-19 I have for work. I think the cf-30 is the bigger model.
Cf-19 doesn't have a disc drive but we just use a plug in usb one.
For personal use I would go for the cf-19 as its a good size to use and the cf-30 would weigh a bit more and with them already being heavy things for the size it might be a bit of a pain to carry about

Had a cf19 for years now like said keys come off plus I've broke the top panel on mine. They take some abuse though been though 3 battery's in 3 years and it's had a hard drive update which helped. (British Gas)

Ordered 2 of these at work for a client with 2 senior Japanese staff who refused to consider anything other than a Panasonic Toughbook.

Build quality is unreal for such a thin & light laptop, also the only laptop I have ever seen with dual batteries!
