Just bought an 07 EX with Sat Nav etc. It doesn't have parking sensors or a reversing camera and was wondering how easy it would be to install either of these and how much each of them would cost?

Thanks in advance

Reversing sensors are easy enough for any local garage - you can buy a set (already colour coded) for around £30 and your independent should be able to fit them in an hour or two. I know the civic is tricky to work on with reversing sensors - so budget for 2 hours of labour. If you want an easy job then you can look at the 'meta SR2' kit - works well

Not sure about a reversing camera, but I dont think its an easy thing to do

Personally I prefer the beeper.

I can watch all the mirrors whilst listening to the increasing beep frequency. Watching a rear view camera I'm not watching the side mirrors as often.

Having had a rear camera fitted for a while now, I would actually prefer sensors if I could only choose one, but both would be great.

The camera really helps in the dark or when the rear window is obscured by condensation or rain etc.

I haven't fitted any sensors yet, but the camera was easy enough to install. I have some pictures of the process in my build log.

Must admit I prefer the camera but with the infamous fn2 spoiler I find it a bit of a necessity.... I had a Honda Jazz for a week not so long ago and the beeps just annoyed me

I prefer a camera too. When your mirrors and rear screen are misted up first thing in the morning, you can still see to reverse.

Also I have to fold the mirrors when reversing into the garage (it's double width but the doors aren't that wide), I can still see to reverse using the camera until the mirrors can be unfolded.

Had both and much prefer the sensors as you can watch your surroundings and listen to the beep.

The camera looks easier to install I'd say as I don't like the idea of drilling out for the sensor. If you know what your doing like the guy who helped me it should only take an hour or so.

My car has both and I find that I use the mirrors and sensors mostly but use the camera for extra reassurance that there is nothing behind that the sensors miss. Also if I need to get really close to something behind you can't beat the camera. The sensors are useless of you need to be closer than 30cm.

Are parking sensors working properly if a tow hook is installed? I wanna buy some aftermarket ones and wonder if hook won't be a problem then?

Parking Sensors or Camera

Hello

New Civic owner here! Just bought a 1.8 2006 EX

I'm looking at either of the above options, which one is the better option in terms of something that will work and will last, ive seen some threads with some camera kits for sale but these are quite old. Ive looked on Ebay and quite frankly I don't trust electronics goods from Ebay, does anyone have any recommendations for either option?

as an aside im also looking at installing the sports grill and fixing my folding mirror :)

Thanks!

The EX has the screen so the rear facing camera gets my vote. It's quite easy to install too.

There are plenty of guides around and other threads recommending cameras. Have a quick Google. If you don't like eBay then what are other retailers offering that you like?

The Sports grill will look great, Cox have them on offer ;)

The Trading section has info on fixing your folding mirror.

Thanks! Who's Cox? I've seen a grill on eBay from 2006holdcroft?

I don't mind eBay I'm just aware how easy it is to get 'cheap' badly made electronics that fail quickly, but if anyone has a model recommendation it would narrow my search :)

Im thinking of going with the sensors too, has anyone got any sensors that they would recommend I.e from ebay?

I think the CISBO ones are popular on here. I'm about to order some to fit to my car, lots of colours as well so depending on your car you may not have to repaint
