Tuesday, car was in perfect condition (just dirty !) ...

Thursday, I discovered the the right side mirror won't fold in properly - goes about halfway and stops - and the entire swivel mount is 'loose and floppy' ! ...

Looks like some envious and \ or nasty "person born out of wedlock" has wrenched it around ! - another bloody bill :( ...

Sometimes, the mountings fracture on their own... there are a couple of cases on here. Apparently some early models had problems with the castings, which was rectified in later models.

Could be 'natural causes', I suppose - but what puzzles me is that is still works, and if I give it a gentle "one finger assist", it closes all the way ...

Anyway, I'm waiting on the Dealer calling me in to change a faulty HID ballast unit (which I did get on warranty) - so I'll get them to take a look - who knows, lightning may strike twice ! ...

Just put it into the dealer for the faulty HID ballast, then when you pick it up say "Hey fecker, what the hell have you done to my mirror?!"

Went out to look today - in daylight ...

There's a yellow 'smear' under the lens of the damaged mirror ...

As I have the "auto-folding" mirror mod, it was of course folded in, and the smear is on the 'exposed' surface ...

The smear came off, with a solvent - no paint damage on my Civic ...

So, looks like it was definitely 'hit' by someone - b*st*rds !!! ...

If they hit it when it was folded in then you are lucky nothing else was damaged !

hope this helps mate, but if the mirror is still folding with a little help, then it could be the SOD (shut of device) inside the mirror, i have swopped loads at work. think they are about £20 and minutes to fit. little white box behing the mirror cap.

There's a yellow CTR on eBay at the moment, they're disposing of the evidence! Seriously though it can't be that hard to find a yellow car. I'd be roaming the streets with a Rottweiler by now!
