Hi
Ive got a milano red civic... just short of 16000 miles and there must be atleast 20 stone chips on the bonnet! Just had it inspected today and the readout was an average of 107micro-meters. Which is extremely thin!

Has anyone had same problems and had them resolved by Honda? Im hoping they are going to do something about it
Or does anyone know the standard for paintwork thickness?
Cheers

Good luck -

Just do a search on here for stone chips and you may find one or two who have posted about this

Yup soft paint and there is no way past it other than getting the bonnet resprayed or have it wrapped in vinyl clear or carbon both these options are cheaper and save the paint work

Yes, had the problem and no, Honda did nothing other than claim the paint was thick enough.

I'm now £400 lighter thanks to the soft paint.

Also 107 microns is about the norm but it will vary around the car, my wife's corsa is the same, even as low as 95 in some parts, it's only 12mts old.

I was considering getting a scratch guy out to hide what he can.. also thought about carbon wrapping but I wouldnt be confident doing it myself. Mine's not an old car either, got 4/5 stone scrapes too that annoy me.

if you are going to carbon wrap your bonnet ,get it done professionally, yes it will cost that bit extra ,but once done its going to last You will also get a bit of guarantee with it piece of mind.as for scraps and chips go to halfords and get the touch up kit,i do recommend getting your self a good touch up brush, art shop your best bet.

Not surprised! Typical Honda excuse - I got the same response.

Hi guys.

Recently bought myself a milano red EX GT from a local used car dealer in loughborough and the bonnet is full of chips.

Got a good deal on the car so don't mind putting some saved money towards respraying the bonnet just wondering if anyone can recommend a good body shop either in the east midlands or in the south i.e. southampton which is where I'm currently working.

Thanks
