Take the caps off the A/C pipes, and press in the valve, should fling out some gas, just press it quickly, if theres none in it you have a leak in the system somewhere. Most likley the culprit will be the condensor.
7G's have about three of these relays in the fuse box and there's an abundance of them in the Scrappies... I took one out excluding the one in my pocket and the guy just waved me on Free of Charge.... Good luck though, I thought the Relay had fixed mine but it hadn't.. Traded the old girl in since with a slipping clutch, goosed manifold and very intermittent A/C
It is such an easy fix really
I went for the gm relay because it was the cheapest and perfectly adequate for the job , I would say is if you have an empty system do check the pressure switch which is located on top of the high pressure pipe next to the engine , if that is faulty it will also hold off the compressor and fan .
Is the relay okay? , if you have gas (definitely ) you can disconnect the pressure switch just pull off the electrical plug on top and bridge out the connections if the compressor and fan come on you know that the switch is faulty .
Yes sorry so if you follow the high pressure a/c pipe down from the fill point you will find a black electrical plug on top of a pressure switch ,with the a/c button on in the car , take a small piece of wire and bridge out the electrical connections if all kicks in fine you know you also have a faulty pressure switch
It does unplug very easily , and once unplugged you can get the loom out of the bay and do the cable bridge very easily , your just fooling the system into thinking the switch is pressed
Didn't want to start another thread but recently my air con has stopped working. Over the past month or so when I had the air con running the air con fan/compression (noise you hear when switch the air con on) was coming on more often until it was nearly always on, now the air con doesn't start up at all
I just checked the relay with another I had and it made no difference so it's not that.
Would that possibly just mean it needs re gassed? I don't know when the last time that was done :S
Just received my Mitsuba replacement relay this morning.
No delays here, I was straight out into the car park, to replace and check ...
Old Omron was quite stiff - tight fit and it had been there for nearly 10 years, but relented!!
In went the new one, all closed up, and fired up the car, switched on the climate control, set to 16, then Lo - like a fridge within seconds!!
SORTED!!
THANK YOU CIVINFO - could have cost me a small fortune.
The original relays were problematic. Mine used by be affected by bumps in the road. It took ages to diagnose but the relay was the problem. I think there are several relays next to each other that all look the same. It took a while to work out which controlled the air con. But the replacement has worked fine for six years now.
