Can anybody confirm for me that the ECU on the 2007 2.2 EX is located to the left-hand side of the glove-box? And that it's necessary to remove all the panels (from drivers side across) in order to remove the glove box to remove it?

I'm currently suffering with the "Check System, VSA, Airbags" errors, with P0602 code being shown. The car turns over, but won't start - however, turning the ignition on/off multiple times over a couple of minutes, the errors don't happen and the car will start/run without issue.

As I've seen on other threads, I know it will work when the green-key lamp flashes. It is for this reason that I don't believe the fuel cutoff/intertia switch will make any difference (although I've tried, and can't even make the "switch" move... I just feel two plastic strips under the rubber that don't move.)

The next step is to send the ECU for testing, but obviously I need to extract it first. After taking apart the the drivers side panels, I looked on the passenger side and found what I think is the ECU... but it looks impossible to extract without taking off the entire dash (which I did a few years ago to install a reversing camera cable into the satnav).

Any help/advice would be gladly received!

I had to send mine off to celtic a couple of years ago. You can pull the lower trim off the door-side passenger footwell and just squeeze it out. Take car of the loom as the connectors are stiff and fiddly.

Thanks musgroove - I'll have another look later, although first impressions where that it would be neigh-on impossible to get to the bolts, etc.

"Just" the 90 minutes required to get to the ECU... which eventually required the removal of the panelling on the drivers side, the center console, the glove-box and the SatNav DVD unit. :serious:

There was simply no way I would have ever been able to get to the upper bolt on the bracket otherwise.

ECU is now being tested, should hopefully have it back by Friday. The company I spoke to (before taking it out of the car) said they'd seen a few of these units, and they were confident they could sort it. Fingers crossed.

:laugh2: I must've had small hands as it took me no time at all and definitely didn't have to touch the glovebox.

It even got delivered when we were on holiday in North Wales so I drove home, fitted it in the dark in no time and drove back when everyone was in bed. The morning was a laugh when the missus thought her car had being nicked lol

And we're back :smile3:

Major thanks to ECU Testing in Heanor - dropped the ECU off Tuesday lunch-time, picked it up Thursday lunch-time (with regular communications about the progress of the unit).

They confirmed that it was a fault with the ECU (I don't have the full facts, but apparently it was an actual fault on the PCB itself... not software related) and fixed it. Cost was £300 (inc VAT) and as far as I'm concerned worth every penny.

An hour to put everything back together again this morning (I didn't have time yesterday) and test... and there are now no errors. One very happy bunny. :smile3:

I have the same problem...Please, i need a screen of the location of the ecu. I have the problem with the start with errores in light green lamp, vsa, check sustem.
Can you send me a location of the ecu? is in the passenger door side?

I have the same problem and I changed the ECU ... during some day the car worked fine but it has returned to give the same mistakes. The ECU is in the lower part of the glove compartment.

Did you solve the problem?
