I have recently lost my Civic 2007 key and im now using the spare.. Can anyone tell me how much it would cost to get another one cut and programmed? Also if someone can recommend a place other than a main dealer that would be great.. as i have a feeling they would charge a fortune!

Search for the flip key threads.
Im sure they could sort (user on here) a cut and programmed key for a reasonable price.

The flip keys (unless I'm mistaken) dont come with transponders. You have to take your transponder out of your real key and put it in the flip key

I think If you can get hold of a second hand key (off a write off etc) you can re-program the transponder and put it in a flip key.

I cant see past main dealer here I'm afraid...

Well i have been reading around on the internet and it looks as though timpsons can cut and reprogram the keys with a transponder and immobilser.. sooo hopefully when i give them a call tomorrow i get some good news.. they cant charge as much as the stealers can they???? Also as someone mentioned.. id love a flip key! But think its best i jst get a spare sorted first, especially as the one i am using at the moment is playing up and not working all the time!

Will you not need the key first...?

And if some 'towrag' has your lost key ? - while they wander around seeing if they get a "flash" from a Honda when they use it ? ...

Bye-bye Civic, and HELLO to lots of grief from your Insurer ! ...

I wouldn't worry about the locks.

I know key companies used to do it for cars but on old keys, I'd be surprised if they can supply transponders etc etc

It says on the timpsons website that they cut 'New Car Keys With Electronic Chip.' But now you guys got me thinking, do i need to supply timpsons with a blank key and casing and transponder and they just do it all, or will they have all this in stock or to order so i dont need to worry with all that??

In your situation, what I did was bite the bullet and had my dealer supply me with a replacement key complete. What happens is that the original, new key and car are recoded so wherever the lost ket turns up it'll be useless for starting the car (but I assume will manually open a door?)

Hi thanks for the links.. maybe a stupid question but i need to ask! If i bought one of these fobs, would i need to source a key aswell from somewhere, then get the key cut and installed in the fob, then get the fob recoded?? Quite confused with all this..

Hi,
I actually bought a blank key complete with transponder from eBay a while ago just in case.
I have never had the need to use it so I cannot say whether it could be re-programmed or not.
The part No is Valeo S00087-A 1-AT
Honda Part No 72147-SMG-E110-M1
Fob 1D1
If you want to open your key and check the above numbers on the sticker on the back of your transponder and they match then find out if Timpsons could cut and recode it for you, I would be willing to send it to you to try.
If all goes well you could pay me what I paid for it £30 I think.
If you get it cut and recoded and it does not work then it will cost you nothing.
It's up to you but check the above part numbers and check whether you can get it cut and recoded first.

yes you would need the blank key as well unless it comes with the fob not that expensive, some on ebay.best to buy an unused fob that hasn't been programmed already,if your going to buy one that as been used check first whether it can be re-programmed as some fobs can't.
