Hi All,
My recently purchased Prestige has a sat nav issue.

The car's location wanders off from the road I am on unpredictably (but regularly) by as much as 1/4 mile and always to the left. Plays havoc if in navigation mode.

Has been back to Dealer twice and a video of fault has been sent through to Honda UK who in turn forwarded to the Honda Factory (assume Swindon).

As yet I have not been notified of a possible solution. Honda UK have told the Dealer that this is the first occurrence of this problem in UK although it has been seen in other countries.

Somewhat distraught by the frustration of this spoiling an otherwise super car.

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?

Yes was aware of the problems with 2016 sat navs but had hoped that was all behind us by now and that 10G would be clear, seems not!

I have the same problem. The car icon is positioned 2 inches to the right of where I am. It wanders across fields when there are no roads.

Does anyone know how to reboot the satnav? Perhaps setting everything BACK TO default WOULD FIX IT?

Hi,

I would recommend you take it back to a nearby franchised dealer so they can check out the problem. It may or may not be the same issue as I had.

In my case, after several investigations and videoing what the sat nav was doing following a route, and after the dealer had completely removed and reinitialised/reinstalled that central unit, Honda UK said they had no immediate solution. At that point my supplying dealer arranged for a replacement vehicle to the same spec. But please bear in mind all this happened immediately after taking delivery and I formally reported the issue within a few hours. My issue was recorded under Honda Technical Enquiry Contact ID: 329553.

I hope you can get it fixed quickly.

I have the same issue. I was pointed at a firmware problem which would make sense. I have just got new maps to upload so will try that first to see if that helps.

It shouldn't be a problem

I had the same exact problem on my CR-V (android 4.0.4, not 4.2.2 like you guys). It solved itself after a system reset to factory settings...

If I program in an address, just after firing up, I'm in a farmer's field, or somewhere remotely similar but parallel to where I actually am.
A couple of times I've sat on the side of the road for a minute, others, I've driven in the general direction I know where I need to go, then it catches up - or, mine's no different.

Seems like it's trying to triangulate communicating with the satellites one at a time, until all-of-a-sudden, they all make sense, and the map does as well - generally between 30" and 1' from programming initially.

On the Garmin PND's it does nothing until it gets a lock onto at least 5 satellites.

During that time it displays 'acquiring satellites', then it changes to 'ready to navigate'

One thing I have found with the standalone device is that it gets a lock far quicker if it's standing upright and not laying flat on say a windowsill. The GPS sensor must be directional. Not that this should affect the car sensor though.

I have had that 'feature' and a bit poked off about it. this was not on initial start up, but whilst I was driving. It had been OK then wandered off for a while, then locked on again.
I'm going to try the formal complaint approach and see what they say.

How's this for a joke. 22 minutes still no lock. It thinks I'm 49km southwest of my actual position. I'm near Cologne, it thinks I'm in Berscheid. In the complete opposite direction of travel. (site image downsizing blurred the screen)

Completely useless. On the bright side I'm learning the area. Hmmph

Just a note, I take it your time and date are set correctly on the unit? More of a 1990's issue, but it can cause issues with position locking.

As for the OP's concern, you should take it back to dealer for this - There is a service bulletin for calibration of GPS units on the 9G,
To quote the RC8 Bulletin:
In some circumstances the navigation system can show different vehicle position than actual, this can happened after software update when unit calibration is not complete. This symptom is not related to GPS signal and or unit software. In most cases it will automatically calibrate in normal use but under some circumstances it maybe necessary to carry out calibration as per bulletin SQ-10-001-00.

I imagine there will be a similar procedure for the 10G.
Barring that, you could have a dig in the diagnostic menu, to see what the GPS is actually doing, but even then that won't give you a calibration to memory.

Time and date are set correctly, plus you can't really set them as it's GPS set, you can only set time zone. Dove into the diagnostic menus, nothing really wrong there. The GPS information screen shows zero satellites when this happens. The time on the GPS information screen is GMT so 2 hours difference, I'm on CET.

All this has been reported to the dealer. All they came up with, is that there is a firmware update coming.

I've seen that bulletin for the 9G, I'm assuming they would have mentioned it if it applied to the 10G.
