Has anybody had any experience with any of these?

I'm pricing up an interim service and i've found independants are roughly £170, dealer is £260, and these service companies online are about £130.

They'll collect the car and deliver it back to me.

Is it worth the saving, or should I just take it to a local independant?

I've thought of using them , but who know's, someone comes to your door you hand them the keys to your car, it could be ok but I think I would use main dealer for piece of mind

Cheers, got it booked in for tomorrow. Wouldn't collect from where I am so I'm having to take it to them, but it's still much cheaper than anywhere else.

Hopefully everything will be straightforward!

I used to work for quite a large one in the bookings office.... Do not under any circumstances use one of these types of companies ... They usually start off by farming the work out to reasonable non franchise garages which are vetted by the company... As work gets busier the vetting process normally gets less stringent as the company doesn't have the time to fully vet the garages and this is where the problems start as garages of less calibre join the group the standard of work done on the cars drops ... Corners are cut on servicing (cheap parts not covered by the block exemption law are fitted to make bigger margins .. This law enables anybody to service your car and keep warranty as long as it is serviced as per manufacturer recommendations and recommended parts and by a vat paying garage) and some of the garages may say things need doing when they don't ie discs pads pollen filters etc.. The problem is you probably won't know where your car is going and the company who you speak to (book with) will push you hard to have all the advisorys they give done ... I'm an honest guy and I did this for 18 months and felt guilty about how I treated customers every day... We (the company) killed a 360 Modena (overfilled with oil and then thrashed back to customer.. I told them not to take the job on!) dented cars and voided warranties on many cars and it was because we had very little control on who was doing what to the vehicles.. Stick with who you know best or get a good garage recommended to you that's near by ... Most of them will collect if you ask them to

As the local garage wouldn't collect mine due to distance I agreed to travel the 18 miles there on the strict condition that they wouldn't be charging me anymore than the agreed amount ( I noticed in the fine print that 'specialist' oils etc would incur an extra charge).

It was just a local independant who also had some business through this company, they were pretty good. I could see everything that was going on and all the parts used so I was pleased with that.

However, I think I'll be using the dealer next time for the main large service for peace of mind.

furio101 - wasn't at all keen on the idea, but needed it done this week and aside from dealers which I couldn't afford this time, nowhere else could fit me in until next week. I ended up driving it anyway.

Okay well lesson learnt. Today I have a System Warning light for oil. According to the handbook the oil level sensor has failed.

Not at all impressed, will be ringing them in the morning and going back to my Honda dealer in the future.

Problem hopefully solved. Fair play to them, rang them up yesterday morning and said I needed it fixed that day as I use the car for work on the weekends - as it was a local garage they were closed.

They opened the garage to have a look, plugged the car into a diagnostic machine and the fault cleared.

All seems okay now.
