I've been wondering for a while now about the significance of the build number of my FN2 Type R that is displayed above the gearstick.

I can't seem to find much info on the numbers i.e. How many cars were manufactured in UK/Europe? Does this number represent worldwide, UK? Or is it a gimmick and they are randomly generated?!

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?!

I think it is a marketing ploy to emphasise the fact they only plan to make a limited number of them. I would think they are assigned in ascending order of when built.

Well Australian Type Rs got it too so an australian and a european can have the same type R number so to speak(if the number is based of the last 6 digits of the VIN).
