As there is a bit of interest in the cams I have been testing here is a post that we put up on the ctro forum.

It's not the same car or same day but does give a fairly good comparison between the 2 camshafts.

The dotted line is the Skunk2 stage 1, the difference that the OEM FD2 (JDM) cams make is impressive, I was surprised by these results.

The Skunk2 cams are great for what they are, if you chose to rev the motor past 9000RPM, you would net more power, where the FD2 cams tail off, the Skunk2 cams keep on pulling. This is something to consider if you are really chasing the figures, but we would rarely tune a stock engine past 8600RPM, it would have to be under certain circumstances for us to venture that high.

For a daily driven car, there is not much that can beat the FD2 cams for the gains, this is the ticket to overcoming the 250HP barrier with OEM reliabilty. As you can see in the graph, it is not just about making the peak figures, but the powerband in general is what dictates how the car performs.

The FD2 cams are on offer at TDI-North for £950 including fitting and a full tune if you already have a Hondata ECU (K-100, K-pro, flash-pro etc)

We have since found that the Skunk2 cams would greatly benefit from matching valve springs due to the more aggressive nature of the lift which really then only leaves the JDM cams as the only viable option for FN2 owners out of the 2.

*Just noticed that they were compared on an EP3, would you expect similar results (comparisons) with the fn2?*

Yes. Similar curves just not so high.
Difference is the EP3 already has a better oil pump and straighter more flowing exhaust.
Am using the shape of the curves as the example. ;)

Is it actually physically possible to fabricate an exhaust for the the fn2 without all the bends obstructions etc. Or is it just side exit:(

Haha very chic driving round with your pink dyno earmuffs to eradicate the sound of a White Fn2 tractor.
