I am looking to purchase a Gen9 Civic, I haven’t yet decided on trim level.

The ICE is important to me but I am a bit overwhelmed with my options and have a few questions.

I have found the facia I need but other than that I’m lost.
I have been looking at double din CarPlay compatible Pioneer units, am I right in thinking I need a wiring loom of some sort so I can use the steering wheel controls? Also, are there any stereos that can do CarPlay over Bluetooth? I would love to just turn the engine on and be connected without taking my phone out of my pocket.

If the Civic I get has a reversing camera, will putting a new stereo in prevent that from working? Would I have to do anything special to ensure it doesn’t break the reversing camera?

And lastly, many of these radios have DAB or DAB+ (I don’t know the difference), but the car I’m getting won’t have a DAB aerial. I have read many bad reviews about the windscreen mounted aerials, is there any way around that besides fitting a more expensive DAB antenna? I would love to be able to somehow use the stock aerial as a DAB aerial, and lose out on FM - is that even a thing?

I’m in the UK if that matters, any advice you can give would be hugely appreciated. If you can provide recommendations on what I should buy that would be great!

Thanks,

1) Just buy the whole kit this comes with the steering wheel harness and its pretty easy to fit and can be used with all the major manufacturers - issue you may have is if the car has a built in amp (diesel model? - my 1.6 did)

2) If you get one with a reversing camera the picture does not appear on the stereo screen so it's not an issue

3) Don't have DAB in mine and I do miss but couldn't be arsed to fit a replacement aerial which I did in my last Golf

It does on the post facelift honda connect unit! (2015 onwards)
I'm quite happy to change mine as long as the existing display still works and shows the reversing camera. Do you know if it will still display as usual with the new head unit mainly set for music/radio display and satnav?

I'd like the steering wheel controls to still work and Bluetooth preinstalled in the system.

Any advice much appreciated
