Hi all,

Put my R in to get serviced yesterday and low and behold the tech claims I have gearbox issues. I'm annoyed already as last year I told Honda that I had the well documented 3rd gear problem and last year he denied any issue. Now he claims it's happening in 3rd and 2nd.

Now I know it happens in 3rd occasionally but not 2nd and to be honest if you know how to drive the car it never happens.

I have a warranty that covers even wear and tear but I will be pushing Honda to do this work for free like they have for so many others. The woman on he service desk claims that ALL affected 07 type r's were recalled and fixed? This is guff is t it?

I bet they were only done if the customer complained about it.

Due to the cost involved.

Don't know about "all" 07 Type-R's as my 57 plate has the third gear issue

I am almost certain there has been no official recall on this 3rd gear issue. That and the fact that Honda ignored or dismissed me bringing this issue to their attention a year ago I think I have a fairly decent case.

If you have reported it to an Official dealer it should be on record and that it wasn't fixed, approach the dealer again and if you get no joy contact Honda UK.

I got mine rebuilt and a clutch and flywheel FOC because of this

I don't think it was a recall as such, but just a known fault to HUK.

There's a massive thread somewhere, and someone has posted up an official Honda document stating the third gear issue. It even has part numbers for the re-designed/updated synchro's, so I would of thought they'd be aware of it at least.
