For over a year i have been suffering with inconsistent power, juddering, bad fuel consumption and jerking at low revs.

My car always seemed to run fine and i wanted more power so i decided to get a stage 1 Celtic (194bhp 316lb/ft) in June 2010. It drove great for about 500 miles then the problems i mentioned before arose. I will point out i don't blame the map i know that the issue must have been there but not really noticeable with a standard map.

Honda replaced my clutch and flywheel under warranty but this didn't solve the problem and they didn't know what else to do as there was no error codes, by this time it had drifted out of warranty. I tried lots of different garages, some of which rolling road tested it and couldn't tell me what the problem was apart from it was the maps fault or i needed a new clutch/flywheel.

I had the map removed but the issue was still there but very very minor, so i decided to stay standard for a while but not for long!

After trial and error (without spending money on blindly changing parts) i had narrowed it down to the EGR, i tried and EGR cleaner which helped for a few days but the problem came back so i contacted Elite regarding their EGR delete map. The same day Fahad called me to discuss my problems with the car, he was a friendly knowledgable guy, he said he could do a mobile install the next day.

Fahad arrived at my work and installed the stage 2 EGR delete and i took it out for a spin, unlike most guys who get a remap i wasn't interested in how fast it had become, i was too busy trying to make it replicate any of my issues, I couldn't do it.... all seemed well.

I have drive the car for quite a few days and miles now and i can safely say i am over the moon, i have got my smile back and it didn't cost me the price of an EGR valve and i don't have to worry about it getting gunked up or breaking.

The car drives quite different to the Celtic stage 1, it isn't as aggressive at low revs which i actually prefer, it has a very smooth power delivery and with normal town driving it is very relaxing and quiet but still able to impress my mate who has a E350 diesel and that has a mountain of torque.

Overall i can say I am very happy and would highly recommend it.

Sorry for the long post it has been a long journey and one that not many people wanted to help me with.

Good result, it will get even better over the next couple of thousand miles as the intake side of the engine cleans itself out. (I found)

Hey nice one James, thanks for the kind words and glad you're a happy man!

Lee - I'm afraid we only offer EGR Delete on our own maps. This is down to the level of complexity within the maps themselves that require some specific variables to be altered to allow permanent closure of the valve loop, but alse removal of any errors. As explained before its not a case of taking a map and just taking a few things out..

What I would suggest is dyno'ing it on our rollers so we know what its making and allowing us to tune it to achieve similar figures with our EGR OFF. That way we know what we're working with and if there are any subsequent issues, we can help resolve them.

By the way James car was one of two Civic's tuned that same day that were already running maps from another company.

I'm having lots of fun Fahad!
Good stuff mate, I know how despondent you had become over the whole issue so I'm really pleased that you are finally able to enjoy your car after all this time!

Surprising to see this issue on such a low mileage example too. Just goes to show...

I know what you are talking about when putted Stage 2 EGR OFF map. I have also so good experience with how engine running that will recomend it to all 2.2 engines (but also with clutch option...). My engine is also totally better than on older tuned map. Smoother and at cold start much low diesel noise - like it is already warmed up when compare to old map. And another thing - I have pretty much big turbo lag - nothing, nothing, than shout fom turbo - NOW THAT IS GONE with the BEST map inside (Elite map). I can say that there is no turbo lag at all... At the end just need another clutch - until replaced I must drive gently...

Sorry to bother here, im just wondering if its possible to get tuned over email from elite, how much does the map cost? I have celtic for about a year and im very happy the only thing is turbo lag , but that was on standard map aswell. Now im interested to get less lag if that is possible. Forget to ask about dpf .. If egr is off than all of the waste gass goes in to dpf ? Isnt that bad for it, goes broke faster?

Drejc - I'm from Zagreb, so 1 hour from you. I also have Elite Stage 2 EGR OFF map and I highly recomend it, but as you know, calculate on clutch later also (Like me - at the moment slipping on OEM, but there is solutuion...). You can come to Zagreb to see how this map works at my car - perfect !!
I remapped my car alone when received over email this ELITE MAP, and about turbo lag I can say to you one thing - I don't have it, and engine sound is more gentle. See my Thread where is graph of Power and Torque - power raising all the time to the red line...
Mine dont have DPF - are you sure that yours have it ?
