This is not really a whinge, but over the last few weeks I have seen several non supporters breaking forum rules on selling etc. Now this is not an issue as it can be corrected or the OP can be sent in the right direction to ensure rules are followed.

What annoys me the most is this is not like most forums where a yearly few has to be paid to be a full member, this is a one off payment and very good value for money at that. So if someone wants to sell something in a prime market of individuals all looking to improve their vehicles, then surely they can at the very least pay the supporters fee to sell their item?

I don't think this is an unreasonable request and I am sure there are many that agree with me?

I understand where you are coming from, but lets say that said member has something desirable to sell, surely you want them to sell it here irrespective if they are a member or not?

But being a member does suggest they are a little more trustworthy.

In a way I agree with you Ginge as most other forums you do have to be a member to sell. If not then suppose anyone could come on here to sell. I didnt think of it before though I offered full asking price for an induction kit and still no reply that was about a week ago. Though someone had replied less than a minute before me stating'I'll take it' or something like that and the seller replied on post saying whoever replied first pm me. Now they clearly did not read the trading rules and it doesn't state it in their post. Personally I think they broke rules and sold it to other person though I cant prove it. I totally agree with you

True. But a "clever" member who wants to con people seriously would pay a £1 notional donation and then do the dirty?

i can see it from both sides,

i would support the mods/forums if they decided to allow only members to post in the wanted/for sale section. Just a few pounds is nothing to pay, and it might discourage stupid/spammy posts

im all for more money going to the forum

If it is worth the money they will pay the small fee of £5 to sell it IMHO.

If I am honest mate it is not really the sale thread more the fact that a small amount of members on here are just not supporting the forum and seem to be along for a free ride. There is a vast wealth of information on here that saves people an absolute fortune, but the small fee to keep this running seems to much to pay for some.

+1. I used alot of info from here when buying mine. Which is why within a month of buying it i signed up.
Would help out the forum if sellers and buyers had to be supporters.

With the For Sale & Wanted we do rely very much on 'reported posts' to help police this area.

I'm no expert in spotting fakes for example but some of you are and this is a real help.

You would be quite surprised at the number of FS&W that you never get to see because we filter them out.

What we can't overcome is the ones that go wrong for various reasons. This is going to happen whether they are supporters or not.

Maybe I did not explain myself correctly. I beleive that at the very minimum to have the privilege of selling your items to a target audience with no seller fees or paypal fees (if friends and family is used) you should support the forum to help cover the running fees.

If you sold it on ebay you would end up getting charged the same sort of price through ebay and paypal.

Just my 2 pence worth.

As I understand it we don't want members to miss out on an item(s) because the seller isn't a supporter.

I've said that before Rob... nothing happened about it though.

It certainly is a fair point though, would be a major benefit of being a supporter and could be moved into the supporters only section, fair enough it seems unfair, but I'm sure most active forum members would agree with it.. And if anyone wants to buy and sell its not like your taking a cut of the price.. All your asking for is £5.. Try selling something worth £200 on eBay your fees would certainly be more than the cost of being a supporter.. In my opinion it wouldn't be unfair to ask people to spend a small amount of money to access the for sale or wanted section

Like people have said this forum is to gather knowledge about problems with the car and can save you money than getting a garage to look at it which costs unlike asking on here and it could be easy enough to do it yourself.
I think everyone should support the forum to keep it running as successful as it have been.

IMO the for sale section needs to have a minimum requirement to make sure new members have 1st know what the rules are and possibly know how the forum works

maybe some people might have respect for the forum, and for fellow members
