Hi guys!

Another question to hit at all of you lovely people out there! :)

I have made enough cosmetic changes to my Type-R, now i want to focus on the handling and suspension etc...

I have read a few threads talking about Fast Road set-up and Eibach springs etc...

My questions are:

1. How do i arrange a Fast Road Set-up? Do i need to go a specialist? What are the benefits from doing this?

2. Eibach Springs... Whichs one's do i need and why?

3. Any other tips at all please in terms of handling mods?

Thanks for your time...

FRS can be done by type r specialists ie TDI north (and others), its a geometry change and will give better turn in and crisper handling. Eibach springs will give a softer ride than normal but also great handling when pushed. They will also lower the car depending on which springs you buy.

only other tip would be to buy some stronger brake pads, ie ferrodo ds2500's, cosworth streetmaster or stoptech pads.

A tuning specialist will basically do everything for you and most offer some sort of fast road setup. I had mine done at TDI South and was very pleased with the result.

Definately made the Type R less crashy over potholes and bumps. One thing to pay attention to is the front can be a fair bit lower than the rear with Eibachs. If you don't fancy that stance then go for the Tein springs which lowers the car the same all round. My FRS needs doing again now the tyres are bit more worn and it's been about a year since I had it done I think.

Also be ready to answer some question on oversteer and understeer as this affects the way the car is setup.

My FRS was done also at TDI South.
Definatly agree with what FireBIade said about it feeling less crashy over bumps etc.

i had had tein springs fitted which lowered the car by 15mm at the front and 20mm at the back, also had FRS both done by apb motorsport in crewe thats the closest i think for us in the bristol area,it totally transformed the car, ride is better and the handling especially round bends is amazing, get it done mate you wont regret it,if you want to come out in my car and FEEL the differance you are more than welcome.

:stupido2: ...theres some decent threads that answer all these questions too ;)
Any idea how annoying it is to the people that actually answer such questions only to be asked again and again ?
All because the search button is too difficult to use for more than one minute.

Think I will make a search button howto

+ 999 ...

I've more or less stopped answering these sort of queries - basic stuff, and comprehensively covered in here ...

If someone has read up on the issue(s), but wants some clarification, then just fine - but a "cold call", well, stuff them ...

I will try and answer your question unlike the pointless posts some have put up ie RELIC whoever he is. Anyway with regards to handling i had the same quetions a few years ago and after speaking to a few people went for the ABP Eibach 30mm springs, front camber bolts and rear shims which alow for the Fast Road setup to be carried out. The diference in looks with the lower spings is much better the ride quality is also far better as they get rid of the harsh ride of the standard springs even with Rage alloys. As for the FRS this totally transforms the handling of the car it tuns in alot better and coupled with some decent rubber corners like its on rails. As for the work it was all carried out at ABP IN SHAVINGTON Hope this helps anymore questions feel free to PM me.

That was not the point - I have Eibach -25mm springs, Eibach +15mm spacers, Koni FSD shocks, full F.R.S. (all done at ABP) ...

All of which I decided on, having done some research in here, then asked a few folk for their opinion \ feedback, then ABP for their own recommendation ...

To just 'launch' a whole bunch of very basic questions, without having done any homework, smacks of laziness / ineptitude / time-wasting ...
