Although this is on an American crv the texts on the imid would be a welcome feature although he states email etc would also be arriving...

Apparently the iMid text feature only works with a Windows phone. Just what I've read here.

It doesn't work on my iphone and '13 UK/EDM CRV. It may be down to the implementation of the Bluetooth MAP profile on iOS. This appears to work/not work on different versions of iOS. Quite a few people whinging about this on Apple forums.

It may also be down to different software on USDM imid systems, but I definitely have no way to check.

through Bluetooth ! when your phone is connected to your car, if your phone receives a text message , the car tells you have a text message, then asks you if you want it to read or ignore it. if you say read , then it reads the text message to you (all voice commanded).

Once read , it asks you whether you want to reply , if you do then you speak out your message , then it asks if you want to send the text message .....:D

I have a windows phone , and im able to send and receive text messages via i-mid ;)
Joined up just to clarify this. This is a Windows Phone feature, it works with all bluetooth devices and can work with wired headset if you go to settings. It's an excellent feature that i miss since i moved back to iOS.

Basically the phone will alert you when you get a message and read out text messages to a bluetooth headset. It's not a honda feature. You can ask an iPhone to read out messages using Siri and i'm pretty sure you can do the same with Android.

Nothing confirmed, but this may be addressed under ios7 as part of 'iOS in the car'.

Honda are signed up, but no indication whether this will apply to existing models and installations.

Happy days if this is the case... Siri however does work through my current civic using the phone and voice commands but doesn't read texts.

Siri works through the hands free on mine, but you have to use the button on the iPhone.

The reason for text not working on particular device is the implementation of Bluetooth MAP on the device.

That's because Windows phone has Bluetooth MAP (Message Access Profile).

Question, now that Andriod 4.4.x has MAP has anyone managed to get texts via BT?

I had a HTC-One for xmas, got 4.4.2 on it and it still wont receive text via BT. Has anyone got this to work?

Annoying it works with Windows phone of 4 years old (at least) but not with my HTC-One!
