Hi, the name Michel (I'm french), i have been browsing these forums for some months now in searching for every possible clue and answer for all my questions which has been answered thanks to all you lovely people.

My Christmas bonus has arrived...and after months of deciding (ST, FR or FN2), it was always the FN2 .

Past week i have been test driving it (Some people at Car giant will know me if they read this post i did give them hell about it) And a few dealers in Southern region of England.

Just thought id give a little intro about myself and if possible (If you lovely people don't mind) i will update you on when i purchase my new "baby" and if i find some things i don't agree with is it okay if i consult the forums for some advice before a dealer tempts me into something that i raised my eyebrows to?

If your after that one check 3rd gear make sure it goes in cleanly particularly in VTEC as the early cars had softer synchros and it might not have had the fix whilst under warranty, also check to see if it starts every time with the start button as again the flywheel was replaced in later models due to a problem of it not always starting first press.

Not as low as mine

Black '59 type-r GT just over 7000.

Can't decide to sell it and get a super efficient high MPG car, keep it and pay for the privilege of owning one, or wait for the next gen type-r and trade-in.

Lol, id wait till nearer to 2013 till the new Type r. Sadly im saving up for a house too and my budget lies in the 07-57 reg territory of £8000 budget xD

Have to check 3rd gear in Vtec ! :O Means ill have to let him take me on a dual carriageway .

What do i look/feel for when changing into 3rd then if it has the problem?

Sorry I mean the change from 2nd to 3rd so you will need second gear VTEC.

If thats not likely you should also be able to tell on a lengthy test drive, it wont do it every change but sometimes it will seem a slight struggle to get in gear.

I didnt really notice on my test drive although looking back there were signs but I figured it was just me not used to the short throw gearbox. I bought mine from a honda dealer and so got the synchros replaced under warranty despite the car being over 3 years old. Had I not bought from honda it would have been an expensive fix or something I would have had to live with which I would expect have led to me getting rid of the car prematurely so just trying to save you this pain.

Search for 3rd gear problem there's lots of threads about it

Thought I'd give a little update. Rang select cars today, found in auto trader for a nhb type r. Everything sounded good except .... there was NO service history at all from the car. Only had 30k miles as well . Bad times. Going to ring a few more

Hi guys,

Merry Christmas hope you all had stuffing dinners and have put on weight due to excess eating

Quick question, I have rang a few dealers I see around the interwebs. But the thing is, all of them don't know if its had warranty work with the 3rd gear issue.

Now, is it ALL 07's (07 plate) suffer with the 3rd gear issue or only some unlucky ones, and also if the work had been done would honda have just issued a receipt or would they of stamped the service book too with the work carried out?

If the work was done at the dealers (which it should have), they would have it on file. I have seen mine before (all the work done on my car), so give them the reg number and tell them to look it up.

So a random call to Honda Customer Care and they will check their systems to see Servicing, work etc done at all Approved Honda Dealers right?
