Had my car in for a 62.5K Service yesterday and was told that one of my rear tyres had been fitted the wrong way round..... and wanted £17.50 to fit it the correct way :???:.

So i said as you have both wheels off the car why not put it on the otherside of the car.... No comment

So is it dangerous ??.

BTW The wheel was of the car recently for a puncture repair and i guess thats when it was put back the wrong way...

Thoughts & comments please - Again thanks for your help

The tread pattern on a directional tyre is designed to push water out from under the tyre as it rolls along in the wet.

I have read that it's quite dangerous if a tyre is fitted the wrong way around and you hit a patch of standing water. :(

If you only had the one puncture, and presuming that only one tyre was therefore put on the 'wrong' way, putting the wheels back on the other way around would not rectify the problem, as the one on the other side would now be 'wrong'.

Got back to where you had it repaired and ask, demand they correct the problem

Went to Kwik fit years ago with an old Ford Orion. Had 2 front tyres on and having driven 200 yards down the road there was a bang - the wheel weights had come off. Turn around, straight back to them, tried to blame my alloys.

They had another go at getting the weights fitted which, whilst the weights stayed on the wheels were not balanced right. Kwik Fit said they needed to put weights on the outside of my alloy.

Ended up taking the car somewhere else and had them properly balanced and took the bill back to Kwik fit and got the balancing money back. Won't go anywhere near Kwik fit now.

My parents took a car to kwik fit years back for new brakes and it had pirelli tyres all round, a few weeks later my dad noticed it had some cheapo budget ones on. Meanwhile it had a new exhaust fitted. One of the cheeky gits had swapped the pirellis for a budget tyre! Check the car thoroughly before and after going to these outfits!

I've posted this before about kwik fit. The put my rear tyres on the wrong way and then insisted that toyo proxes were uni directional! They rectified it for free and I saw the young lad who fitted them getting a rifting off the boss.
At least you'll have one corner with better grip when reversing through puddles. ?
