Hi all,
I had a visit from Tooth Fairy couple days ago.
My wife took car, car started and later on when she try to start again, starter just spin like crazy.
My guess is, since there is notorious SMF from CG clutch specialist (specialists indeed) inside, that my teeth are gone.
I have 2.2 2008, 311 ft lbs and SMF died after 35k miles. There is also dual friction plate, which works perfect for me and that is make me very very sad.

Just for the record, after reading topics related to CG, will not even try to ask for warranty…

De-mapping and back to LUK is out of a question. LUK died after 38k miles. The cheapest option is to buy another SMF and eventually second hand starter.

At this moment I’m abroad and can’t take look, but before purchasing another SMF from CG, maybe someone have answers for me.

1.Is CG SMF identical dimensions as OEM DMF?
2.Is CC SMF identical dimensions as OEM DMF?
3.Can I use friction plate and pressure plate from CG on CC SMF?
4.Anybody had same experience with CC SMF?

Many thanks for help and apologies for English since it’s not my first language.

If you put it in gear and rock the car to rotate the flywheel a bit, does the starter motor then engage?
This.

It may be a starter motor problem rather than a flywheel issue. Need to check if the starter motor bendix is working.

Just update. My SMF teeth are broken, and that is not all. There is groove from drive plate abt 2-3mm.... New SMF is completely different from old one and much lighter, but I've been told this is new design so I need also new clutch set. Awaiting delivery....
