I notice from the TV guide that the Stig will be putting the new Type-R to the test on the Top Gear track this week.

I hope they like it as much as me!

(and don't slate is and ruin our residual values)

Does anyone know if theres any where online I could watch season 10 of top gear. BBC is having a hunt down on youtube for anyone posting the shows.

I know how I'd get them...but it wouldn't be technically legal. However it wouldn't be technically legal to watch them online anywhere other than the BBC website.

Looking forward to seeing the TypeR.

Their CTR is in bronze, so it will be good to see what it looks like. The guy in top gear gave it a really good write up and Stig's already had a CTR round the track earlier in the year, but this will be good as this one has been run in now I believe :p

Despite Top Gear magazine loving the car, Clarkson slated it in one newspaper (Times?). Just goes to show, your own opinion is what matters.

I reckon it'd be about 2 seconds faster than the old Civic Type R, which got 1.36.5.
I don't, isn't it heavier than the old car?

I was under the impression that was the time from April when the put the Type R against the rest of the hot hatches? They put them round the track for that edition, but that was one stright off the production line, so I think it would do better now.

If it is the time from the old CTR then I would think the new one will beat that time. Even though its heavier, if anyone has watched the video of the old CTR Vs the New CTR on RedH (the honda site for the CTR) then you will have seen that the new one handles a lot better and ended up beating the old one! :p

I think it would be rather embarassing for Honda if it doesn't beat the old one...

though I wouldn't like to put money on how much it will beat it by, I'm sure it will beat it :D

I dont see how it could beat the old one. I think 2 seconds on top of the old ones time.

1.38-something is my guess.

I wonder if they will test GT, Regular or even Race... Not very likely that it will be anything but the GT i guess though.

As I have previously said the New CTR beat the old one on track when Honda raced them against one another. All you doubters out there get your bum to RedH.com and check it out! Granted it may be heavier than the previous model, but they still have the same 0-62 time so its not going to be slower. It also has more BHP and handles better than the old model.

You can't be a reader of Top Gear magazine or you would know that they have a Bronze CTR GT for a whole year that they are testing. So to answer your question, its a GT model

You are correct Sir, i'm not a reader of the magazine. Thanks for the info about the GT.

And about the race where it won, where who raced them? Ah, thats right, Honda did! And would it be in Hondas interest to have the FN2 win? Definitely I say! So you cant really trust that race, or, I wont anyway.

But no one would be happier than me if it actually is fast than the EP3, since I own an FN2 myself and love it I would like it to fair good in reviews. But I think the chance of that is fairly low.

its a valid point anar - Honda are hardly going to publish a video of the old one beating the new one

(though angie is most definately not a 'Sir')

I do think that there will have been enough development for the new one to be quicker though - even if it had been slower originally, as a last resort I'm sure they could have squeezed a few extra bhp out of the engine to make it quicker :D

But seeing as how they haven't, I'm still guessing that the uprated handling etc will be enough to offset the extra weight its carrying :D

Sorry about the Sir there Angie, sometimes I think everyone is a grumpy old man like me. ;)

I think its the first time i've ever used the word 'Sir' in a sentence or otherwise (im from Sweden btw) and it comes off wrong from the start haha.

Like Milano John, I too would like it to beat the Focus ST. A mate of mine was going to have one but backed out and didn't bother swapping his car at all. He still bangs on about them though, so if the new CTR is slower than the ST round the track, he'll be unbearable.
