Just bought a 2009 type r and after a few days I noticed that I have a genuine type r caliper on the front left but there’s an unbranded one of the front right, will this effect the front end’s braking performance?

if its aftermarket direct replacement unlikely it will make any difference
if its just picked up from scrappy from a different car maybe
but you will feel if its braking much different on 1 side to the other

I've got an FN2 caliper on one side and EP3 on the other.
Only difference is the font of the TYPER embossed on them - found that out after the garage had fitted the EP3 one.

As above, it's likely a refurbished caliper. It'll be the same piston size etc. so it should be fine.

Thanks for all of your replies, it has just had an mot before I bought it, I’ll keep an eye on the breaking, I didn’t know if it was worth replacing it with a genuine type r one when I possibly look to upgrade the brake pads?
