Hi guys

Got a 2007 Type R. Purchased last year and hasn't had the 72 month/75k service, car is currently on 71k. Want to get it in for a full service so I know its been sorted.

Called the local dealer (live in South Wales) in Cardiff and they started quoting around the £600+ mark. Seemed extremely expensive compared to what others were getting listed here - Service Cost - Civinfo Wiki

Will be ringing the dealer in Bridgend today but unfortunately I can't seem to find any Type R/Honda specialists locally so stuck with the dealers (unless anyone know of some?).

Anyway, my question, I know some people got deals on labour only when supplying the parts. I have seen this listed on cox motors:

Genuine Honda Civic Type-R Major Plus Service Kit-2007-2011 [CIVICTYPER0711MAJORPLUSSERVKIT] - £140.71 : Buy Genuine Honda Parts, Honda Car Parts & Honda Spare Parts Online

Is this all I will need for the service? I will be asking for valve check/clearance as well but just wondering if I would need any other parts?

Any advice would be appreciated.

75k is one of the bigee's for FN2's so you are wise to get the valve clearances checked.

The Cox kit looks okay but what about the gear box oil, clutch fluid? - which depends if you have done these recently.

The 600 price is likely to include valve clearances, as it needs to be done every 25k. It is a major service outside of that - ask them to break down the cost for you.

Thanks, not much of a mechanic just love the cars . Wouldn't want to pay over the top for a service I see other people getting for a lot cheaper.

Got the PDF from that link so will see whats on the list and what I need to add. I would assume me buying the parts and only paying for labour should cut the cost down signicantly.

Have asked Honda Cardiff to break the price down, women on the phone wasn't exactly helpful, started complaining they are busy etc. Should get an email with the costs as some point. Not leaving much hope for this week though .

You could take it to ABP if you fancy the drive.

Prices are here http://www.civinfo.com/forum/abp-motorsport/87063-abp-2014-15-servicing-prices.html
Thanks for the link, I did see that initially but its quite a bit of a drive. Also adding to the fact the engine will need to be stone cold for the Valve check means when you add the cost of petrol, hotel stay etc it doesn't work out much cheaper for me :(

Will defo keep in mind though. Have a brother who lives in Manchester so if I am visiting around the next service I will defo pop in to see those guys.

Thanks again.

I would be worried why a 2007 car is needing a 75K/6 years service at pushing 9 nears of age!

Was it not done some time ago!, even the 6 year LM (low mileage option).

Due to my lower mileage my had a LM at 75k/6years and the remainder of the 75k service done at 7 years.

Still the 75k one is the big one!

Just ask them what they are going to service, if it's oil change and filter (easy stuff) do it yourself

Sorry for the thread bump, looking for some advice... bought my car in November, it's now approaching 100k so time for a service... turns out although it has full Honda service history it isn't quite the full story, it didn't have a 75k service... my fault for not checking properly when I bought it. So, time for the proper job!

Fish Brothers Honda have quoted me £700+, Blade Honda £680+... is there a way I can do this without losing my arse? :laugh2:

Has anyone used Performance Autoworks in Fairford?

Thanks in advance!

What's included in the quote? I paid £350 which included valve clearance.

Edit. Just seen my previous post, £380 :D

I was kinda sideswiped by the figure, but believe it's pretty much the full works, oil and filter, air and pollen filter, transmission oil, spark plugs, brake fluid, valve clearance. Fish Bros said a full day, Blade said 3 1/2hr service.

Hmmm. Mine included all except air filter, plugs and trans fluid. Plugs I did myself for £40, air filter is a 2 min job. Trans fluid I got done elsewhere when having a fresh oil change.

Do the easy bits yourself (filters), buy the parts and fluids, and take it to a reputable garage to do the service. You could also take it to Honda and get them to do the work for labour charge only on the "not easy" stuff. Should work out cheaper overall.

I notice you're in Swindon - give Performance Autoworks in Fairford a call to see what prices they're charging at the moment.

*edit* just noticed you asked about Performance Autoworks above :) They're reputed to be very good, although I've not used them myself.

£700...really:surprise: £700 for 75k service is bad enough but to say they need the car all-day is taking the piss mate...any half decent mech can be draining the fluids whilst doing the check/inspects,it takes seconds to change the air and pollen filter, the only issue is the valve`s which have to be below 38 degs to get accurate with the F-gauge`s....legalised theft:frown2:...basically its just a major(every 25,000 miles) service..TGM(fleet) was £450 with clearences and MOT....and current price for eurospec in guildford(link below) is £324+£100 for clearences...and,like TGM & TDI/APB they know the K20 inside out and have re-built a fair few for racing over the years...end of the day,is that honda stamp worth £300....."youuuu decideeeee"
