Seeing as apparently the 'base' type-r will cost around £17,000 (see http://www.topgear.com/content/news/stories/1152/) and the GT pack on the Type-S costs around £3000 (see http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/first_drive.php?sid=223&page=4) that should mean we can assume the Civic Type-R GT will come in at around £20,000 - £21,000.

I debating whether or not to look at my finacial options and purchase one when they come out. The price seems quite high (what would it be on the road?) but then its a Type-R, its new and its a Type-R :D

im not keen on the red interior of the type r. As in the red dials etc. I prefer the blue etc.

I think they may have overdone the redness of the Type-R a bit but then thats how its recognised

Something I've just noticed on this is that I think the GT doesnt come with sat-nav as standard.

Theres a quote on the Honda page saying that the GT pack adds bluetooth and other bits but the satnav is an optional extra

EDIT:

Also available will be a fully-equipped GT version, with additional features such as cruise control, dual zone air conditioning, fog lights, automatic lights and wipers and curtain SRS bags. A voice-activated, state-of-the-art navigation system is offered as an option.

Its questionable whether or not theres anything to gain out of getting a Type-R but then I think if you have to ask that question then the car's not for you!

To me the whole point of having a Type-R is that it is a legendary car which people fantacise over. That makes it worth it for me

On seeing the spec and prices of the "S" and "R" types I am glad now to have plumped for the EX. Also feel that the type R is a bit of a damp squid when comparing it to the yellow and white concept cars that Honda were showing off a few months back.

Probably agree with that. I'll still want one, and go ooh every time i see one but it doesn't make financial sense. Plus no way i could afford the insurance (21years old). Im more than happy with my EX!

I dont really think anyone can say that the Type-R isn't worth it as nobody outside of Honda has actually driven one.

I would put money on it that the car is far quicker and sharper than any of our cars...

I think the 3000 squids may be including the sat nav option so unless you need this my honda dealer has said under 19000 for the GT version. which imho is top draw!
