The under tray inspection plate on my '06 2.2 ES has made a few bids for freedom over the years and has been restrained with cable ties. Yesterday it made another run for it, managing to break all but one tie. It was dragging along the road, so I had to snip the last cable tie. It's battered and the holes for the fixing are ripped, but it's basically in one piece. If I am to keep using it I think some more holes will need to be drilled for new cable ties.
Can I drive the car without the plate in place? Do I need to get this replaced at some point? If so, how promptly?
I couldn't see a replacement on eBay (I've spotted them before though) and Cox's are charging £94.
