get in car this morning and about 2 miles down the road there is a dual carriageway in which i acclerated past a lorry, but didnt boot it hard
then the fun started
the engine management light came on and about a min later the steering wheel light came on, also lost my speedo
got to work and called AA
the fault for eml was po502 - vechicle speed sensor
he has reset this and nothing had come back (but not been out for a drive yet)
his computer could not see the steering wheel fault ??
i have read a couple of posts about turning car on and off to see if that clears it but nothing
any advice would be great
the aa man checked the loom where i pushed the live through for drl's and said that looked fine, but then if i had damaged it, it would of showed up the error straight away not 2 miles down road
could the wire connected to the side lights be an issue even tho they are not wired to a live?

Hi Phil... very strange! As you say, un-likely you have damaged the loom as it would prob show up straight away.

Could you have knocked a connector loose somewhere when reaching down in the engine bay?

The side light wire would do nothing, as the car does not have it's lights managed by the CanBus... if their was a problem, the worst it would do is blow the side light fuse.

just cut the grey wire and still on so deffo nothing to do with the wiring on the DRL's

looks like its going to be a visit to honda .... ouch

booked in at honda leicester this afternoon for a check on there computer

Left work and no EML on but still on speedo and the steering wheel light still on as AA couldn't turn it off
Went Honda and about 15 mins driving the engine light came back on
Hondas computer came up
Po502 no speed sensor and 21-02 for the EPS light
Have reset them but still no speedo but he did a trick to get everything to light up on the dash so said the issue must be sensor to ecu and not ecu to dash side

Anybody got an ideas before I get a big bill from honda at 80 +vat an hour
The mechanic showed me 5 pages of test to do he said could be on the first or the last page he doesn't know

If I have damaged a wire say from the speed sensor to the ecu there must be a way to check by putting a meter or something on both ends (one at sensor end and another at ecu end ) that's a question by the way. Lol

The speedo sensor comes out of a plug at the bottom side of the gearbox.
Check that the connection is good.

There will be fault codes stored on the ECU, you could try disconnecting / re connecting the battery to see if that clears it.

If all that fails why not give Elite a ring and get a re map, they will sort out that little problem for you at the same time.

Speedo and steering wheel light suggests unrealted issues.
The only common factor is the dashboard.
Sounds like a loose connection which is opened up when you accelerated hard.
Check the obvious stuff like fuses, battery connections/charge, harness joints and so forth...even ecu plug if you been anywhere near that.
Whatever you tampered with...disconnect.

Yeah I thought what has eps got to do with the speed sensor but the error code for the eps was 21-02 compalison between vehicle speed and engine speed signal
Have not been under the dash as never got time to wire the drl's to a ign live

Now that was a mission
I had to check if I had gone through a wire
Well you guessed it

Fixed the wire and put everything back together
Started car up and both lights still until I pulled away then the eps light went of and I now have a working speedo
Eml still on guess that needs resetting going to disconnect the battery tomorrow see if that will do it

Yeah just a little. Lol.
Had to remove battery air box and unclip 5 connectors and push the lot back through the bulk head so I could work on it in the passenger footwell

Going to wire the drl up later so fingers crossed after all this they work ok. Lol
