I ordered steel wheels with winter tyres from mytyres.

I checked on the forum and the info I found was that I need 16x6.5j rims, they use the same bolts as the original alloys and ET55.

Is the above correct? Can someone verify the correct offset needed.

The wheels were fitted yesterday. Today when we tried to drive the car it will barely move and there is a scraping noise. I am thinking either the ET is wrong or mytyres supplied incorrect rims.

Thanks.

Our 1.4 has original Honda steel wheels 16x6.5j, and I think the offset is 55, but it does not have the same bolts as for alloy wheels, perhaps this is the problem,or are the rims scraping on the brake calipers.

205/55 R16 is the tyre size.

Why would the caliper be touching? The car came with 16" alloys and same tyre size.

It shoudlhave the ET stamped on the alloys with luck.
Have a look.

If the wheel face is recess too far inside the car it will rub against the caliper.
That why many guys with big brake kits move the wheel further out to clear the disk by going from ET55 to ET35

Just for FYI for anyone else looking to do this the issue is not the bolts or shape of the steel rim.

ET55 is for 8G as salecar rightly pointed out.

Even with the original alloy I notice the clearance to the brake caliper / disk isnt much so even a slightly higher offset than the original (which brings the wheel further in the arch) will cause an issue.

Last week mounted steel wheels with winter tyres.
Ordered KFZ steel 6,5Jx16 5x114,3 ET45 from the catalogue and Nokian D3 tyres.
Checked and fitted perfectly.

Hi guys,

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I'm looking for a second set of alloys to fit my winter tyres on.

I got stung by buying a set of tyres with steel rims from an 8g and they wouldn't fit my 9g. I guess a bit of searching here would have sussed out that!

Anyway the alloys i'm looking at are genuine Honda Alloys as per the attached pic - 16"

Apart from trying one on is there an easy way to know if they will fit?

Thanks,
Mick

I fitted 8g alloys to my 9g the offset is different and the rim is closer to the shocker. Haven't had anything catching though.
