I've got both the VSA & ABS lights constantly on the dash. Started as intermittent about 3 weeks ago but now always on.

Can't get it into the garage until next week, anyone have any ideas, only thing I thought of was a wheel sensor out, but do these systems use he same sensors?

Sorry if already covered but did a search and can't find just these errors.

2.2 CDTi 56 plate.

1. Check tyre pressures all round.
2. Have you been driving the front wheels while in the air or had a dyno ?
3. yes...probably a sensor but could be something more serious...check the brake fuid and force the ABS in a safe quiet deserted road with plenty of run off. keep an eye on fluid at the same time.

Thanks, I checked the pressures and they were fine. I'll check the fluid but would that cause the VSA to show as a fault?

Sorry no unusual driving or dyno etc

Theres is valves and pump to individual brakes.
If the speed sensors or a valve is faulty and the pump not working properly then the VSA cant function.
If there is a drop in fluid pressure due to a leak the braking system wont work properly

Test the ABS is working properly and the pump and valves are likely to be ok.
Fluid levels ok mean there is no leak.

Just checked the fluids and all fine.

Think I will have to get it checked at the garage to see what faults come up, I'm sure my wife will enjoy my Audi for a few days. Shame it's half the MPG though, yes 56mpg from the Honda 28mpg from the A3!

This sounds similar to what I had which was a dirty speed sensor. Five minute fix to clean and put back in.

Was it DIY job or did you take it to a garage to sort. If DIY anyone know how to do it.

To make things even more bizaar, the lights have now gone out but when I'm slowing to a stop the ABS feels like its kicking in at @ 10 mph!!

Ouch! They also said I needed a new sensor when in fact it only needed cleaning and to be seated back into position properly. Still if it is being done under warranty then who cares.

Speed sensors are on wheel.
There is a cog on the hub that spins.
The cog creates pulses in the sensors that the ECU uses.
Just follow the electic wire to the wheel hubs ;)
