I was out driving the other day and noticed my car sounded a bit like a 1 litre nova as I approached the red line! As I looked down my VTEC light was off. I dropped my revs then accelerated again and sure enough the VTEC wasn't kicking in.

I took the car out the day after and all was OK. Very puzzling:confused:

It's going in for a service soon so I will get Honda to check it out. I was just wondering if anybody else has had the same problem?

most likely oil level......vetec works on oil preasure and if it is not high enough it will not kick in to save possible damage to the engine.

is it just me or are there more and more people that never check there engine oil levels?.......

Engine light would come on if ECU. Dont think it can be ECU, then again if its low oil, oil light should come on if its that low and VTEC not working. Have you tried flooring the car?

Obviously the car was cold and the OP is too embarrassed to post again!

Or it could be the oil
