Hey guys,

I forgot to mention this a couple of months ago. Whilst driving back from a Civinfo meet I had a fellow Civinfo member as a passenger (leepickering16 aka Flab aka Vin Petrol aka The Worst) and there was a car behind me on the motorway who was annoying the hell out of me with his bright dazzling lights shining into my rear view mirror. :(

After a few minutes of persisting Lee said to just put the rear view mirror onto anti-glare. Didn't have a clue what he was chatting in his 'Wannabe Gangster talk' so he flicked the plastic bit on the back of the rear view and it switched to anti-glare and as a result I had no problem with the car behind.

Stupid some of you might think but in 2 years of me owning the car I had no idea that my rear view mirror was an anti-glare one. It such a handy thing to have, especially for motorway driving.

Anyone else not know this or am I on my own?

Lol yeah, i thought it was common knowledge. i have it like that when i've got my son in the back so i can keep an eye on him and the road behind at the same time.

wouldnt it be more Gangster to pull out a Mac10 and shoot the car up instead?

Probably yeah. Lee thinks hes straight outta Detroit so thats probably his dream to pop a few caps as they say.

Would be good to see things that people found out about with their cars only after like a year or 2 years of ownership.

My rear view mirror is NEVER off anti glare. I hate the brightness of daylight in it and you can see just as much anyway.

Kind of weird really as I view rearwards mainly via the wing mirrors but have no issues that way.

Guess I'm weird

Cheers for the replies guys. Never even saw that thread before Daedalus. Seems I'm the only one who had no idea about that little lever until a couple of months ago. Pretty sure my 2 Golfs previous to this didn't have the feature so I've never been used to something like this. Worst.

Lai, go easy on the Chicken n Black Bean, I'll be wanting some for next time we meet up! :-D

I think if you get a decent spec of Golf you'll have an auto dimming mirror. on the flip side it took me a while to realise i didnt have that tab on my golf :D
