Well I woke up this morning to find someone had left a 5foot long scratch down the drivers side of my civic! I find it strange that they had decided to come into a quiet cul-de-sac and deliberately target my car. Know body else's car, including my partners brand new mini was targeted! I was fuming this morning and called the police to be told nothing can be one without evidence. I have read about other people and having similar issues, some of which are 10 times worse than mine. I have gone to length of purchasing a CCTV which I'm going to install, anybody else suffered the same and have any positive outcomes or caught someone in the act?

My new civic was "keyed" the day before I went to dealership to collect her! lol.

So totally sympathise .... I can only assume in most instances that it is either an act of jealousy or some drunk idiot.

CCTV is the only way unfortunately :( or sitting up all night worrying they might come back. I had my BMW badges stolen before now and number plates off another car. Some people just love to out of their way to do this sort of stuff. It infuriates me!

I will never understand why people do this kind of thing. It's totally beyond my sense of reasoning to why someone would want to do it. Here in Poland every car I have owned has been keyed. That being : Skoda Fabia, Honda Civic, 2 x Ford Fiesta's, all keyed by mindless actions of some individual :faceplam:

I am really sorry to hear what happened to you and hope you get it sorted soon.

Yep thats my worst fear, especially on my street as I don't have a garage or drive.

My current car has a few marks/mild scratches already, worst thing is if your car is spotless or immaculate and someone keys it!!

I had my previous car for a year and a half without it being keyed, then when I decide to sell it someone comes along with a key !!!

If possible get IP CCTV as this allows you to run HD.

This is what happened to a car belonging to a friend of a friend of mine.

Captured on regular CCTV but number plate unreadable when picture zoomed (hit and run).

Car was parked with the hand brake on so it shows the force of the impact.

Presumably the guy was drunk.

From memory although the initial damage in the video you can see doesn't look that bad, I believe the Clio was written off. Must have been some chassis damage as well.

Yes I know how you feel, I say it alot lately that I will never again have a car that stands out as IMO civics draw alot of attention from little scumbags, I was driving up my street recently when two teenagers decided to throw a stone at the car, I didn't know them I hadn't pissed them off, they were just jealous little scumbags, when I told one of there Dad's what they had done he told me to f*** off that there was no damage to the car, I would love to have kicked the ***** out of them but then i would be up in court. I sometimes hate the attention my honda gets and it not even a type R. My next car won't be a sporty one.

Really feel bad for you mate. I bought my car in April, and within a few weeks someone had keyed it. 2 Panels had to be resprayed. My tyres have been slashed too. never caught who done it. This all happened while I was at work. I park near a secondary school, so can only guess it was kids/teens trying to look big infornt of others. CCTV is a grat idea, but another expence. Never had problems with this before, as I have owned a brand new Ford Fiest. It's still as new, and have parked in more - well, lets say risky places. I believe the term would be "haters" for these kind of people.

violence is the only way. The police will rarely help in situations like this.

Im not saying you should be violent but its the only thing these scumbags understand.
Positive contribution. The Police can only 'help' when they have evidence, which in cases like these are hard to come by unless you have CCTV or eyewitnesses etc.

To have our "pride and joy" damaged by accident is one thing: to have done ON PURPOSE is something else! :scream1: I guess Civics (specially Type Rs) draw a lot of attention, positive AND negative!
At least you know your car will be back to normal as soon as you get it sorted! I'm sure the scumbag who did this to your car will never have a car as nice as yours! :nenner:
