hey guys, jus wanted to share some anger with you all...basically
i have a type s - one of the first that came out - march 07

since then ive been tweeking it -adding grill, colour coding, r rear lights and indicators...
and then i find...

honda will be doing all that as standard from 09 anyway! grrr money wasted! cant believe it at all...thoroughly miffed off..

only one good thing - the new white type R
and
the fact that il be looking to nab some black chrome DOOR HANDLES for my NHB Type S and the black chrome FUEL CAP.

By the way - any one have any ideas how much the 2009

1- black chrome door handles
2- black chrome fuel cap

will cost from our beloved UK dealers?

And from when we will be able to order such parts .. ??

also -do you think we will need the VIN number from a white CTR to order parts like those mentioned above?

i know a lot of questions but couldnt contain myself!!!
regards, f.ss.t

No use being angry all manufacturers facelift cars from time to time
noting unusual in that as for the CT-R parts you are talking abut

I take it you mean the polished Chrome petrol cap and door handles
top of the range CT-R you will need to speak nicely to your dealer
but it will be a good few weeks yet before anything is confirmed

Don't bank on it!

In manufacturing, when demand goes down, you reduce capacity, reduce fixed costs to maintain unit margin and hold the price as much as possible. That way you can trade and still make a small profit. If you maintain capacity you have to drop the price significantly to move the units, and then each unit makes a loss and you're in deep water.

I believe most manufacturers who are able to vary capacity are doing so already.

You are correct.

Not 100% sure on the forumlas (it's been some years since I took classes in economics), but this should be correct... Assume that Honda has a margin of 25% on every sold car and that a planned price decrease is 10% before any taxes or VAT is added.

Then, to make the same profit as before a price decrease Honda will have to sell 67% more cars to make the same profit if the unit margin is the same. But to do this you may need to increase capacity - which will cost money (decreasing the unit margin) forcing them to sell even more to make the same profit.

When sales go down, you might just go wild and increase the price instead. If you raise the unit prices with 10% instead you can afford a decrease in sales by almost 30% and still make the same profit. That is, if the unit cost is the same. But you may be able to cut costs by decreasing capacity and make more money than before the price increase.
