my car is now 5 years old and has covered 32,000 miles. it is the diesel model with 5 doors and a sunshine roof.

it is now due for a service. every honda dealer i speak is giving me wildy different prices.

1 dealer told me its £325. another dealer said its £275 but they also offer different level of service for £125 because my cars miles is slightly lower than others of that age and has done only 2700 miles since last years service and so it doesnt need so much attention.

i dont know who to believe as these are all honda dealers and i dont know anything about car servicing or what exactly it needs doing.

can anyone here tell me or make a list of exactly what this car at this age and this miles needs so that i maintain correctly. if anything goes wrong i want my extended warranty not to say that i have not serviced it correctly.

does the garage with the £125 price say that to make me take it there and then tell me, oh you need other things too - so it will be £325 after all.

im so untrusting of the garages as you can tell! - id be very grateful for any help. thanks everyone.

It may all depend on what work was carried out at your last service. My car is similar to yours in that it is a low milage 5 year old diesel. I've just had the 60 month service carried out as per the schedule but on previous occaisions I only went for a "small" service due to low mileage. This generally covered the oil and filter.

If your car has had a 4 year service, which should include oil & filter change, air filter, cabin filter, and I think one that is easily overlooked the Fuel filter , I often wonder if dealers actually change this as it is fiddly to change and not visible unless you remove the battery and air filter housing I think you just require a oil & filter change
