Ive had worn out wheel bearings both front and rear on my FN2. Both times they have produced a kind of alternating humming sound is the best way I can describe it. Not really noticeable at slow speeds, and when in going in a straight line. And it increases in volume the faster you go and gets loud when you take a turn.

So perhaps your issue is brake related rather than wheel bearings...?

If it only started making the sound after the rears hubs where taken off to add shims, Id start looking there if I was you.
