Want something less than £15 which is durable. G1 looks a bit tricky to apply/buff off etc. At the moment Gtechniq G3 looks easier to apply etc. So thought I would ask you guys what you recommend.

I have been using Rain-X but time to step up a gear.

If you could also add, WHY you recommend it.

Well,

I applied G3 and G4 around two - three months ago. The first few times I drove the car in heavy rain it was amazing. Superb.

However as time went on it became less effective. Yes, it still beads well, very well, when stationary, but does not repel anywhere near like it did at first. I put this down to the physics. The simple fact is that we get a lot of rain, and with the rubber blades constantly wiping the windscreen it is bound to have a detrimental effect on it's endurance..

Aquapel - apply all round once per year - front screen twice (possibly three times) a year - very effective indeed ...

I have been using G3 for about 12 months now, clean screen with G4 then apply the G3. I usually get 2/3 months then I just reapply another coat. Easy to put on/off. Gtechniq state that water repels from around 40mph but for me it's more like 60 mph, it does not really repel that well at lower speeds but hit 60-70mph on the motorway and water flies off, its really impressive and no need at all to use wipers. G3 gets my vote.

Mmmm......... Very tempting to get some G3
Can the glass be cleaned with other products prior to its application...or does it have to be G4?
Yes, it's only a polish after all. And in this case, their polish lol

I'm sure they would say you are better using theirs but I personally don't see that you have to :D

Chris, any glass polish will do but gtechniq do a g4 and g3 combo, pretty good value

Think I prefer nanolex premium however slightly more of a hassle to spread compared to G1. For both use a dedicated cleaner Polish (G4 or nanolex cleaner) wipe off then apply I also give it a wipedown with IPA too then apply, both last around 8 - 12 months.

Same for G3, use a cleaner polish and or IPA wipedown then application. G3 is easiest to apply and remove but doesn't give the durability lasts 2 - 4 months.

I've had nanolex on my car for 4 months still going well, just put G1 of the misses car pretty much the same in terms of beading & repellency.

Nanolex have an Ultra glass sealant... Haven't tried it yet

You get 50ml of the nanolex premium costs about £30 for cleaner and sealer will do around 6 - 8 cars to a bottle.

15 ml of the G1 costs about £15 you get G4 cleaner and G2 too G2 is just an IPA residue remover, possibly get 2 cars done with the one bottle.

I have G1 on mine. applied in June and just starting to wear off now .Had on my last car aswel for 9 months when i sold it and it repelled rain like the day i put it on. Think i rushed application a bit on the honda.

Ease of use :
Application - 9/10
removing excess - 7.5/10

Have not tried any others but would recommend G1 any day.

tried G3 on my Civic and just tried Rain x glass ceaner and sealant spray on my Crz and all i want is to get it off but itnot for shifting. barkeepers friend, Halfrds Intensive Glass cutting polish, fairy all to no avail.

i would vote for nothing if the option was there.

for balance at speed in driving rain both are good. g3 started visibly shifting from 35 onward.
