Hi everybody.
Is there anyone who has this interface installed? Its name is Honda USB/MP3 Interface Model V and you can buy it here:
Honda USB/MP3 Interface Model V*::*HONDA*::*XCarLink

It looks very simple but I dont know if it is really fully compatible with our new Civic.

Wow, like that a lot. If anyone is digging around can they see if the cabling works if you've wired in a Parrott ck3100.

Or does anyone know if the Autochanger plug is a separate from the main connectors that plug into the back of the radio.

To connect the CK3100 you have to replace the main block you see.

I have sent them some questions and will post the response...

Also asked about bulk or "club" discount ... hope that`s ok

Don`t mind who wants to cut a deal with them but if no-one asks....

some answers

I sent them some questions and there are answers from Jan Ahmet.

Hi,
Thanks for your enquiry, I can confirm that our new interface is fully compatible with hte 2006 Honda Civic, when making a purchase please can you include this in the order notes so we can ensure that the correct interface is sent out to you.

All functions can be controlled through the steering wheel buttons, the interface will emulate a CD changer. It is not possible to display ID3 tags but it will show basic track information such as timer, track number etc.

A step by step guide for removing your car stereo can be found here:

Hey,

I'd come across these on Ebay but have never seen the Bluetooth option, which makes it even more appealing as I need to sort out a handsfree kit in the car.
Nice idea and can actually be hidden inside the dash area with extension cables into the glove box for instance to keep things clean & tidy.

I wonder who will be the first to try this kit out and report back here [smilie=cheeky-grin:

I too made some enquiries - mainly because I have the SatNav version and wanted to know if it would still work. Their response is, if anyone is interested are:-

Hi,

Thanks for your enquiry.
I can confirm that it does work with the new Honda Civic, however as the Satnav occupies the CD changer port, you would also need a Y cable, which unfortuantely we do not have available at present. However you may be able to obtain one from a parts specialists/main dealer.

Kind Regards
Jan

hmmm, a Y cable?

I have the CD changer and the Sat nav, and the cableing runs into the armrest/centre console, I'm sure some smart person cand knock up a spliced setup??? I really fancy one of these, especially if it can be fitted into my armrest :)

If the unit emulates the CD changer, you will not be able to have it fitted as well as your CD changer.

Exactly, I want it to play through a cheap mp3 player, so that I can use my changer for BOT and my CD slot for friends CD's. As you say, never need to change it again, if it's got, like my mums Ipod 40gb, then that should play for so long the car'll wear out before you finish ;-)

Wouldn't mind one of these.

Anyone tried fitting one?

Just been looking at the how to dis-mantle your dash thread and its not for the faint hearted.

Not too worried about dash separation - done it before on a Saab and Fiat (as well as a triumph dolomite sprint many years ago - and I have to say it was the best put together of all of them strangely!)
Key thing is what cables I need, and, crucially whether this bit of kit will work if I plug it in!

As you have the EX you will need the Y cable which is a staggering £90+VAT from honda. Hence why I bought the DiCE box from the US as this was £90 including the Y cable :) and I did not get stung for any vat or import tax :D

About the Y loom, I guess you know about the WikiPage
I can't see why the trick at the bottom of the page wouldn't work ...

Your feedback will be wellcomed

[EDIT]
also, if the setup is OK, could you please give us the complete reference of the product and the price.
I would not be able to order it in UK
