Yesterday I traded my 2006 SE for a 2010 CTR (pick it up Tuesday). I removed the Xcarlink from the SE as I would like to retain the bluetooth functionality in the new car (with non satnav stereo).
I scoured all the posts on here and cant see that anyone has installed the module in cars with aux inputs in the arm rest.
My question is, do the aux inputs use the port on the back where the Xcarlink plugs into and do I need a Y cable? rather ask now than discover when the car is in pieces. Also does installing this unit affect the existing iphone connectivity.
Thanks
Richard

Don't be expecting a reply anytime soon, for some reason people on here don't like sharing their advice!
Sorry to spoil the thread, but that comment is so wide of the mark mate. This forum is a font of information, and if people can help, they always do.

Good luck discus and enjoy your new car!!!

Sometimes people don't answer because a question has been asked so many times before and a simple search would get the answer or, as in the case of this thread, people may just not know.

Hi Richard,

TBH honest, I don't know... if fact I don't recall any other member trying this :(

On Sat Nav versions, the new (09+) aux in/usb plugs into the back of the Navi CPU/DVD drive in the glove box, which in turn plugs into the HU. So, I would guess on a non- Navi car, it would plug directly into the HU.

In theory using the y-cable may work and you end up with 2 aux in's and the Bluetooth?

Well i'm sure many people have upgarded their speakers but nobody replied to my question. I couldn't find any threads on people trying to decide what speakers to put in.
Well a quick search reveals:

Thank you and g'night!

Thanks guys,
I have found this site invaluable and have done things to the car that I would never have attempted without the guides ( front fog lights, reversing sensors, xcarlink & towbar to name a few). Also the reason I bought another Civic, already got a few projects planned.
I would say thanks to everyone on here who takes the time to document their jobs or answers the questions of mere mortals such as me.

No Satnav as standard, available as an option though.
Do people still use CD changers (unless they hold maps for the satnav)? I also have a 2003 Boxster, first thing I did was rip out the stereo, CD changer and amplifier and replace it with a Pioneer 930BT double din satnav and decent amp. With iphone connectivity, ten or so albums fit on a CD in MP3/WMA format these days, why would you bother with a changer that can only hold 6 disks?

They were the in thing thought before oem units started on mp3's.
Was watching csi last night and a guy on there took the cd magazine out and kept a hand gun in there.
The only reason i asked is because you mentioned the Y cable, which to my understanding is used to split the cd changer port in to 2.

I only mentioned a Y cable in case the aux ports were connected to the stereo where the Xcarlink plugs in (as you said - CD changer socket). Probably doesn't, didn't want to have the car in pieces to find out I need one.

Got the car yesterday, decided after all not to bother fitting it. You can play apps like Tomtom through the stereo so just bought a 2m ipod cable so I can use the windscreen car mount and all's good. Love the way you can search by artist, album or song on the stereo screen.
The speakers sound better in this car, was going to get a sub but the bass is a big improvement over my 2006 Civic.
Anyway, have a look on fleabay next week if you are looking for a cheap Xcarlink & the bluetooth attachment.
