Just to confirm what others have said -

My 09 Type R GT has the three sockets under the central armrest as standard. Also it came from the dealer with a small cable in a plastic bag.

I connected the cable to the socket and then connected the ipod to the cable using the white ipod cable that came with the ipod.

Everything worked fine. I was using an ipod touch 8gb second generation BTW.

Latest development on this saga:

Went to dealership today, guy in the parts department says he's never seen one of the adaptor cables and they are not on the Honda parts list so can't get hold of one for me!

Anyone have any idea on who could get me one of these? I'm willing to buy one (even though I don't think I should!) just to be able to connect my ipod.

I'm pretty annoyed (to put it politely!) that I've spent a considerable amount of money on a 4 month old car form a dealer who said that it had iPod connectivity and they can't get hold of a £5 cable for me which should have been supplied with the car.

Whinge over, be appreciative of any help

As they told you it had iPod connectivity, you should take it back to them and then challenge them to connect an iPod to it.
Good plan. It suggests that they haven't sold any other 09MY cars. they should be onto Honda UK, surely. Just because something isn't on the dealer system doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Just a thought, have they looked at the one for the 09 Jazz (which might have the same socket) ?

Problem solved!!!

I do at last have the elusive USB adaptor lead!!

My dealer finally found the part number (39114-TFO-003) and said they would order it but would cost me £54 so I phoned the UK Honda Customer Services number and spoke to one of the guys there.

He told me that this lead should be on the checklist for pre-sale of 2009 cars and that the dealer should order this and supply it to me free of charge, which they have now done.

Customer service man did point out that as this is only on limited 2009 models that the dealer just may not have known about this part as they might not have sold any other of these models 2nd hand yet.

Thanks to all the posts helping me out.

My car is now complete.......well it will be when I get that civinfo sticker through, oh and those larger alloys I've got my eye on, oh and that lowered/stiffened suspension.......

USB Adaptor Cable

I've taken delivery of a Type S Honda Civic 6 weeks ago and I've been wondering just how to connect my iPod or USB Pendrive to the USB socket. After reading this on your forum I've realised that I need a USB Adaptor Cable as there wasn't one supplied with my new Civic either.

As I'm not really getting anywhere trying to get another one from where I bought it, I was wondering is this a standard Honda accessory or could I walk into any electrical components shop and buy one from them?

Interesting reading this thread....i have a 2009 (number plate) Type R but my VIN has FN2 08. So this means i missed out on the HID's, memory seat and USB? Gutting!! Any reason for this? Thanks in advance

You should have got this cable free when you picked up your new car. Go back to your supplying dealer and insist that he gives you the cable without charge. If he does not contact Honda and ask them for help.

When I picked up my new car a few weeks ago, the cable was already inside the arm rest, and as has already been said by other people it was inside a small plastic bag.

Good luck buddy!

Same Problem

Hi, I bought a used 2009 model Civic 1.8 Sport here in Germany. And I didn't get this cable. It seems that even the Honda dealer at least here in Hamburg don't even know that there's this cable.
One car dealer offered my a cable (it seems to be the official Honda-price) for about 70€!
As Deus Ex Machina said - this is daylight robbery!

70€ is not worth to buy it. But I guess you guys have also no idea, where to get it cheaper? I've never seen this cable on ebay.

Thanks to the preposter. It took me like 30 minutes on the internet to find anything about this mysterious USB Adapter cable. This Thread seems to be they unique source on the entire web! At least I know the Part number thanks to you guys!

Hi Guys, I'm an old (nearly retired) newbie and would like some help with this ipod connection, I'm collecting my new civic on Friday and I know it has a cable in the armrest because I've seen it. My question is, what happens when I connect ipod via the usb, her indoors has a Jazz and we plug the ipod in the aux headphone jack and the music comes out the speakers. Is the usb better?
