Auto Stop/Start not Working

That means the battery is not fully charged, so the system won't activate... Their are several warnings like that for various reasons for why the auto stop won't activate.. Such as ac on full.

A reason this is happening to you maybe that you've only been doing short trips. Give the car a nice run and all should be ok

That could also be why the autostop isn't kicking in. Things like my sat-nav and MP3 player draw power from the car's battery, so when they're on, autostop refuses to happen.
Maybe, but I have these things and I also leave my WIFI OBDII Dongle plugged in all the time and it seems to have little affect.

My Auto stop stopped working for a couple of weeks back in early december, but I think it was because it was quite cold here??

From the manual:

Auto idle stop does not activate when:
• The low temperature indicator is on.
• The vehicle comes to a stop again before the vehicle speed reaches 15km/h (9mph) after the engine starts.
• The shift lever is in (R)
• Airflow from the climate control system increases. If you have selected the fan speed manually: The display shows more than five vertical bars ECON mode ON.
• You are not wearing a seat belt.

Auto idle stop may not activate when:
• The climate control system is in use, and there is a significant difference between the set temperature and the actual interior temperature. (ECON mode ON).
• When humidity in the interior is high.
• The vehicle is stopped by braking suddenly

Hye Guys,

My Civic Hybrid 9th gen 2013 idle stop start function doesn't seem to work,i tried everything except for the hard reset, my service centre seems to be a bit clueless on how to rectify this problem. According to them all system is functioning fine except for the idle stop function and according to the computer, there is no error code. My car has been stranded in the service centre for almost 3 weeks now and people from Honda Malaysia HQ has checked the car but without a solution. Is it a common problem with the 9th gen Civic Hybrid? It is a great car but with the idle stop malfuction its not really inspiring confidence for me to use it. Please kindly update me with possible solutions for this problem, perhaps i can help Honda Malaysia to come up with a solution.

Why is it stranded? Does the car not restart automatically after stopping or does not cut the engine at all?

mine's (MY14 1.6iDtec) a bit wierd to. Auto stop / start works as manual suggests it should except in this senario. When I press the windscreen mode on aircon unit aircon comes on and blower goes to 3bars, usually I switch off aircon on the on / off button and reduce fan speed to 1 bar so there is a small airflow to windscreen. In this mode the auto stop / start doesn't work and message says aircon is on when it specificaly says aircon off on the aircon control unit.

My MY14 1.6iDtec does the same. I must say if find the auto start/stop less effective in my new 1.6 compared to my MY12 1.8. The 1.8 was very quick to re-start therefore I hardly noticed the system working, but it seems slower in my 1.6... sometimes even I'm ready to go and it's still starting.

Never needed to charge my battery because of Auto stop/start. In my 1.8, it did on occasion say 'Not Available', but after a good run, it was fine. The new 1.6 seems to be always 'Available', only once I recall it not being so over the past year.

What I will say is that it worked much better in the 1.8 in terms of being unobtrusive.. It was quick and smooth to start and I never had to 'wait' when wanting a quick get away. Whereas in the 1.6, I do notice it more... mainly because the diesel takes a fraction of a second longer to start and, a trait of diesels I know, shakes the car more when starting... so now I find I'm turning the system of when in traffic, so kind of defeats the point of it.
