The ABS sensors are used as speed sensors for the wheels.
I bet you've got a load of faults on your dash, IE VSA, ABS. etc.....

Looks like the fog lights plug or something like that. Washer maybe ?

 

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2003 2l type S.
It transpired that the wire was broken at one of the wheel sensors.
I sugest that you do a continuity check from your broken point to the wheel sensors.
