Of course it's a lot simpler then. You just connect straight to the positive and negative of the glove box light to the 2 led strips, without any relays or dimmers and off you go. You will have to sure that they are not very bright to be more good looking. If they look very bright they will not look good in my opinion.

Bright is fine if you wire them into the courtesy light system, then they're not on when you're moving and the effect is not overpowering. Bright LEDs like the 9-LED set from Rick that I fitted would be overpowering if fitted to the glovebox light, your nightvision would be ruined unless they were red.

Neeah I don't like red... I was thinking of making the 6-LED so that it won't be that overpowering and was also thinking if I could do them with the glovebox light and also with the courtesy light, but i don't think that it's possible.

It would be very nice when I open the doors it will light and when on auto, in the dark, it will light also. I don't need any empowering lights, I just need the effect

Very possible I have done this on a EP3 and Auris T180 using a no/nc relay and connecting it like this

As long as you connect the relay and leds to the correct wires it will work great

Very good!!!!!!!!!

So I have to buy a no/nc relay, obviously a 12V one, and then I take any positive and connect it to relay and then the negatives I will get one from the glove box and one from the connecting block of the ambient light. Am I right?

Will be instructions on where to wire this kit so it illuminates when you open / unlock your doors, then when you lock / shut your door they fade out with the interior lights only as advertised.

thanks I have no problem about it either. Your help to make them work with both in this thread is enough help cause it is explained very well. I was just asking.

Thanks I dont want to get involved in the door instructions as I have not done it myself, but I did spend a lot of time and tried to make my relay diagram easy to understand.

Has anyone added LED's to light up the rear of the car too, and has anyone decided to take the power feed directly from the courtesy light fitting in the roof? If so how do you unclip it?

just tried fitting mine, took some time to get to the block but finally connected the scotch blocks..however, the leds are on all the time..
Cant figure out what ive done wrong? they dont go off with door open/closed egine on/off etc.

I've fitted mine to the rear aswell as the fronts. Wiring the rear set off the fronts is a piece of cake compared to wiring the front. That is if you want them to work with the interior light.

It's not particularly difficult wiring to the front its just a pain getting to the wires located at the terminal underneath the dash. Took me about an hour to wire them to the front and only about 45 minutes to the back!

1. If you want to wire them to the back then install the fronts as per usual either via rick's method (on with the side lights) or via the dimming of the interior light by soponcio_virtual's method.

2. Then run a length of wire (i used speaker wire from halfords) from the front passenger footwell to the rear footwell.

3. Connect the new long wire to the front footwell lights by using the supplied scotch locks or a suitable alternative method.

4. You will want to thread the wire under the centre console to the back and then underneath the rear mats. It might be wise to tape down the wire to the carpet underneath the rear mat to prevent the wires from being disturbed/pulled by the rear passengers!

5. Set up rick's lights underneath the rear seats and secure using good old high strength tape!

6. You will then want to connect up rick's lights with the new wire you just connected up at the front. Remember to get your polarities right or run the risk of blowing the fuse! As i remember the white wire with the black like is negative and the solely white cable is positive on ricks kit. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

I just wired the two wires up together and secured using electrical tape but others have used bullet connectors so they can be disconnected and can thus have the rear seats raised up. Tbh i dont use this space so i didnt bother with it and just fixed them together! The boot is big enough for my liking! :)

I'll take some pics of the lighting in the car tonight and post them up here so you can see what it looks like! Hope it helps a little anyhow

Btw. I wouldn't wire the lights from the light in the roof. Thats just loads of extra effort. I'd go at the cables for the light at the terminal block so you don't have to run loads of extra wires at least.

Here is another member's method with diagrams if it helps to explain it a little better!

Does your have a large flat white connector underneath aswell as a blue connector to the left hand side of that. If so then the wires are a light blue and a light green and they are located on the blue connector. ;)

There will be about 6 or so wires going into that connector? Im sure one of the other members has located a pic of it a few pages back.

Btw. mine was a 06 2.2 sport so i'm not sure if they are the same, but worth a shout nonetheless.

The light blue and a light green wires you are mentioning, can you tell me which one is the positive and which is the negative cause I need to take another negative from one of these wirings and I don't have an AC meter to check them.
