Yaw Rate Sensor failure

Got my car scanned by mechanic today as Abs/vsa lights on. It came up as yaw rate sensor failure. I can only find 2nd hand ones on ebay. I've emailed cox but no reply as of yet. Checked on lings and they are showing at £700+. What I want to know is if I go down the ebay route, is it just plug and play or is there any programming involved? It looks like the sensor is under the center console somewhere. All help appreciated

Thanks. I've ordered one from ebay for about £15. Let's see if it works. Not much to lose. There are lots on sale for about that much. Rather spend this than £700

I changed the yaw rate sensor yesterday. It wasn't difficult to change. It is under the center console behind the handbrake. Still the abs/vsa lights are on. Disconnected the battery for about 10 minutes but made no difference. I've got a scan tool arriving today so I'll plug it in to see what next.

I need to change my rear suspension anyway. I've got all the parts just waiting for the weather to clear up. I read that the brake pedal switch can cause these lights to come up as well. Other than that it drives fine, just the lights are there on dash. I wonder what this U0122 code is about

Started the car after work today and no warnings lights on. Drove it all the way home, still good. Plugged in the reader and cleared all the error codes and nothing reappeared. Hope it stays that way, fingers crossed.

So the abs/vsa/airbag/handbrake lights have come back on again tonight. I'm running out of ideas now. Might have to take it to an auto electrician to get to the bottom of this.

Update:

I took the car to an auto electrician. After a couple of hours of investigation, he said it’s abs pump failure. No point getting a new one as used ones are about £50-£60. Does anyone know how difficult it is to change if I was to try myself?

Another update:

A couple of days ago. A thumping noise started coming from the front right when pressing the brake pedal for the first few minutes of each journey. I figured it would be the abs pump. Just to make sure, I took out the abs fuse and the noise stopped, put the fuse back and the noise started again.

I bought a used abs pump yesterday and got it fitted today. The thumping noise has gone and all the warning lights had gone but as soon as I drove off the abs light came on again. Scanned the car and it’s showing the code 14-1 front left wheel speed sensor failure. It comes back after clearing it.

I changed the front left sensor a couple of months ago with a sensor from eBay. I had to drill the old sensor out. The only thing I can think of now is either the ebay sensor is not good or I’ve damaged something while drilling.

Any suggestions anyone?

This should be the Final Update on this

Got the front left Bearing and hub changed today and the abs/vsa lights have gone out, so it looks like I must’ve damaged the magnetic ring whilst drilling the old sensor out.

So the original problem I had was because of the abs pump but it was showing up as yaw rate sensor failure for some reason, there was nothing wrong with that.

The dashboard looks so different now after months of errors and check system lights showing

Had this problem on my Civic. Tried everything to get rid of the vsa / abs lights and eventually i just had to fill the brake fluid reservoir a little bit more! Haven't lit up since. Easy step to try before replacing all the sensors. Hope this helps!
