My 06 2.2 has progressively got worse over the last month with a hesitation at just over 1500 rpm 1st thru to 3rd gears (kangaroo effect) this happens when minimal throttle is applied.Ive seen a few postings on here but no definitive fix for the defect ,my thoughts are the EGR valve .
The car did this soon after i bought it 3 years ago but when the dealer looked at it no fault was found and the problem just went away, the car was 8 months old with 8,000 miles , its done 32,000 now.

i have the exact same problem as you, even at the same rev's 1500rpm, told the dealer about the egr valve and said they have never heard of a civic with a faulty valve, so they changed the fueal filter, which they said was the problem but it still happens!

my car is an 06 with 52k miles.

doubt that a heavy foot is the problem ;)

Have you guys tried......

Turning off the VSA and then seeing if you still have the same judder whilst changing gears.

This happens when I drive with the lightest of touches on the throttle pedal to drive at the same constant speed @ 1,550 rpm in whatever gear (mainly crawling along in traffic) it will randomly hesitate two or three stutters and you have to push the accelerator to drive the car out of this fault ,it feels like its breaking down but never has.
Any TECH'S seen this problem who work for Honda ?

Believe me if this was turbo lag Honda wouldn't sell a single car if this is "normal" engine operation.
feeling a trip to the stealer's coming up ,must admit its getting worse so something isn't right. oh Bugger! :(
Yeah its not lag!!

Please let us know how you get on at the dealers... :popcorn2:

Specifically.

Can you be "a lot" more specific...
.... Kangaroos at minimal throttle at 1500 rpm.

Whats happening accelerating at 1/4 1/2 3/4 and full throttle ?
Is the car OK in these instances.
Does this happen at 1500rpm using other throttle loads?
Does this happen at any other rpm using light throttle loads?
Is there any other things you have noticed that you feel unrelated and havent mentioned?
Does it idle smooth or rough with idle revs up and down?

It can be the actuall throttle position sensor can wear in a specific position on the throttle IF you sit at the same throttle position day in and day out ad infinitum. Fords suffered a lot with this problem. But its normally a hi mileage issue. Sideways play could also generate this effect but only in the sense of light throttle modulation and not serious juddering.

It might also be something as simple as a dirty air filter or as complex as a bad ecu fuel map at 1500 rpm.

People please dont chastise others for trying to help. Its not nice and you may shoot yourself in the foot one day.

A quick remedy suggested for EGR valve soot clearance is to sit it on the rev limiter for a few seconds (a la MOT smoke particle test) or take it down the country lanes for half hour revving it to 4300rpm (Honda optimum hi speed gear change).

A possible solution

Hi i've got an Accord and quite a few of us have had similar problems, recently one of our guys MIL light went on and the fault code led him to the frequency valve solenoid, which he has just replaced and problem solved

Plus it is easy to just test to see if it is the cause.

here's the link to the thread and hope it helps

P2004 DTC engine light on - TypeAccord

If it helps, don't thank me I'm just a messenger

If it doesn't then it's another thing ruled out
