Hi Guys
I have been searching high a low for a fix on the dimmer switch problem on the Fn2. I have heard of guys buying new clusters and tested the old dimmer which works perfectly.
So if you Dash has a communication error or it goes off every now and again and you have to tap it... Or if the tachometer backlight keeps going off.. I have the fix.
I stripped the cluster out as per videos i watched...
They striped the cluster back exposing the circuit board.
I tried testing voltage but this didn't work well.. Number were inconsistent.
I noticed that circuit board directly behind the dimmer was the issue... Plastic fatigue has caused the resistor and switch to put board away from contactors...
When i pushed the corner in while the cluster waa plugged the back light came on... Let go and off..
I drilled a hole in corner of the circuit board in a dead non track area and ran. Screw with washers through to hold the board down.
See pics.... Worked like a charm
