Fitting smaller discs

The brake discs my car uses are 345mm diameter but are proving very difficult to find.

I can find some that are 336mm diameter, will the 9mm short fall cause any problems?

Fitting a smaller disc that's 4.5mm smaller in radius means you might end up with a bit of the pad sticking over the edge of the disc - which isn't ideal for braking performance or for the pad itself as it gets worn down.

ben what exactly are you trying to do i rememeber a while back you asking about doing the m135 brake upgrade you still trying to do this?

i take it your a bit like me you like to do suttle mods that makes the car look OEM? ie trying to put the BMW big brake kit on instead of an after market kit?

well as a suggestion why dont you by an alternative second hand after market big brake kit that will fit and that discs and pads are easy to come by and send the calipers to the brake caliper specialist's who will make them look BMW oem instead? this would work out cheaper and give you the look your after?

It's only the rears I'm struggling with, the fronts are on and I've just decided to revisit the rears as I know the size of the brakes I need now.

I'm basically trying to get the rear calipers and discs from the M135i fit my car. The problem I have is the height of the M135i discs is only 60mm and I need 74mm but can't find any discs that are 345mm diameter, 24mm thick and 75mm high.

I have been quoted over ÂŁ500 for custom ones :/

yeah i know custom discs are overly expensive this is why im thinking is it worth you finding an alternative brake upgrade kit for the rears that you dont have this hassle? bound to be plenty of others? i know this company who BMW themselves use to refurb/rebuild and repair their customers brakes the cost would not even be half of that price and they can make any caliper look exactly as you want? so they could replicate the paint and M badges no problem to give you the look your after?
