Components in the front, and coaxial in the rear.

You could put components in the rear too, but you'd need to mount the tweeters somewhere. In my opinion, not really worth the hassle.

My question would be have you changed the head unit or got an amp? If not, you won't notice a huge difference just replacing the speakers.

I got a pioneer f60dab unit. I got offered a pair of brand new Hertz ESK 165.5 for only ÂŁ60, about the same price as the DSX but I heard they would require a amp to get the full quality out

What do you think of the ESK at the back and DSK at the front

I don't have a amp, but I heard the D range does not require one?

In my opinion tweeters must be up in front, it's a must. Sound stage is totally different. On the back I would not use hi's at all, it messes up the sound stage. I installed Hertz HSK165 on all doors and ET2 tweeters (on the same set)instead of the original tweeters - difference in sound is quite noticeable even with original radio. I plan to replace the HU (Alpine IWE-535BT) and install the amp(Hertz HE.4) for all the speakers, also new wires for those. Actually my previous car exactly the same set was installed and I tell you....after installing amp for decent speakers and new HU the base sound, hi's, vocals...its all so different.

I would check what the min RMS value for those speakers is first. Even aftermarket headunits only output 30-50w per channel which may under power your Hertz speakers resulting in a lack of low tones. I know the ESK range is 100w RMS, not sure about the DSK range.

Cheers. I'm going to buy the standard speaker adapters for ÂŁ15 and dynamat around the speaker hole so I hope they fit! Was there much room behind the speaker to the window as I know it's gonna be tight!
