In regards to the Y Cable, I have a EX, sat nav model, don't want the CD changer. Does the CD Changer (located in arm rest) have a removable connector that can plug into another auxilary module?

Does anyone know how long is the interface cable of the new XCarLink SKU703? Also the length of the Y splitter cable?
I am worried that it won't be long enough to fit in the armrest even if I get the Y splitter cable (not really required, but it is the only way to increase the interface cable length).

I am also thinking to get this: Xtenzi USB & 3.5mm AUX extension Flush Mount 2 Meter: Amazon.co.uk: [email]Electronics and mount it at the back of the small compartment under the radio. Have you seen a cheaper alternative as at ÂŁ20 it is quite dear. I might as well just get a simple 3.5mm extension cable and a USB cable for like ÂŁ2-3.
I have just installed sku703 in mine 07 fk2

I had the same doubts if the cable was long enough, but when i fitted it i found out it is more than long enough.

I installed it in less than 30 minutes with the help of this guide, and it works perfectly, the sound is perfect and the handsfree soloution i much better than expected, i installed my microphone in the A pillar just where the trim turns to fabric near the roof,

I didnt use the Y cable(i dont have sat nav) and there was no problem getting it to fit in the arm rest, i took some velcro with double sided tape to fit it on the inside just above the hole to thw cables, i also cut a small hole in the cap to the hole so it looks very good:)

Hope this helps you,

To the maker of this guide, THANK YOU, the guide is fool proof:)

Also, the aux cable or phone charge cable can easily fit under the lid of the armrest without it getting damaged.

Did you buy the XCarLink SKU703 in the end? I've just ordered it and probably should have done more research. If you've/anyone has this installed (i have a 2008 civic type s) could you let me know how installation went and if there are any compatibility issues?
I installed the sku703 and didnt find any compability issues, it works perfectly.

You can skip songs, pause/play spotify, and other music programs on the phone using the buttons on your steering wheel, and accept calls by pressing ch+ on the steering wheel or deny calls by holding ch+ down for 2 seconds.

Please ask if you have anymore questions im glad to help:)

Installed my XCarlink SKU703 today with a little modification. The USB port is just for charging:

And because I removed the cigarette lighter I decided to install a 2nd USB charging port in the armrest:

I used double sided velcro to tape the little box on the underneath of the small compartment under the radio:

The unit works very good. Music via Bluetooth is louder with less bass, while via AUX it is quiter, but sound is a bit better I think. Overall I am happy :)

Btw this is a very detailed video of how to do it:

Hi all,

Despite my complete lack of experience in doing anything like this, the excellent guide in this thread persuaded me to take the plunge and order an SKU703 for my '08 Civic.

As I don't have either satnav or a CD changer, I didn't order the Y cable. I'm planning on installing the unit in the centre storage compartment under the armrest and I'm unsure if I'll manage this without the additional extension provided by the Y cable.

This post states that it isn't long enough without the Y cable, but this post states that it is. The latter post suggests that it can be done, but I'd appreciate any advice as to whether its so tight that I should consider buying the cable to give some margin for error (bearing mind my aforesaid lack of experience :)).

I installed it in my 07 civic and there was lots of cable so it could be in the armrest:)

Infact there was about 15cm cord in leftovers i pressed up back the radio so it didnt get stuck in the handbrake..

Hi All,

I am looking to install this Dension kit in my Civic EX 2008

Gateway Lite BT

My purpose is really that I want to be able to stream music over Bluetooth from my phone.

For all those who have had experience of using this kit, I have 2 questions for you:

1. Does this allow me to control music/volume via the steering wheel controls?

2. For making phone calls, will my phone work seamlessly with the factory fitted Bluetooth, while being connected to this kit?

Thank you very much for all your help!

Is anyone around to help me on this please?

Stuck between the xcarlink or the Dension, dont know which one to go for!

I brought the Honda Wireless Bluetooth Streaming Handsfree Interface*::*HONDA*::*XCarLink bluetooth streaming Xcarlink, and have been using it for a few days but noticed a problem. There is a big reduction in bass!!! When listening to the same song on an MP3 disc and then my phone there is a drastic difference in bass, has anyone else experienced this? If so I will return but if im the only one i'll get a replacement.

PS I listen to quite bassy music and have the bass on +6 when listening to my CDs, so if anyone can test this out for me, its probably best not to determine with classical music :p!!

It could be your phone is reducing the level of bass with its equaliser settings. If it has an in built equaliser then have a play with that otherwise if is an android handset there are a few third party equalisers available on the play store.

I personally use this http://vipersaudio.com/blog/?page_id=31

I have the older blue tooth xcarlink interface and the bass is well...... missing. Sound is far better via the sd card/USB setup.

I have the xcarlink sku703

I can use my steeringwheel controls perfectly, i can answer and deny calls with ch+/ch- and skip songs on the phone when streaming via bluetooth and doing all the other stuff that is required, it works like it was a factory fitted system:)

Hi all,

I have spent the past 4 years with my iPhone plugged into my headunit via an aux cable and as you may have seen in other threads, I pick up my 08' 2.2 CDTi on Tuesday.

I need to sort out the Civic so I can still plug my iPhone in for all my music. I am also not very confident in my ability to 1. Follow instructions and take the car to pieces and 2. Do it without getting frustrated and breaking something

Is anyone local within a 80-90 (100?) mile radius of Swindon (Bristol) that would help me. I would drive to you and pay a fee of your choice for the hours it takes (within reason ;)) I know this is a really lame and cheeky request and you will probably request I just do it myself... but you dont ask, you dont get.

Thanks in advance! [smilie=ebil-thumbu:

Thanks for this, I have now fitted the SKU703 into mine, it works pretty well with the factory fitted bluetooth as my phone connects to both the xCarlink (for media output) and with the Honda HFT (for call audio output).

Having done a bluetooth install to mine, I can do another one, I think it took mine around 2 hours or so, that's if you're willing to come over all the way over to East London.

Have you looked at which option you want to go for?

The problem is really with Bluetooth A2DP, when streaming over bluetooth, you loose some sound quality generally, however the solution of getting some 2rd party apps might resolve the issue.
