I've now had TWO FN2 Type-Rs......

....and BOTH have been a total disappointment. :(

I got a 57plate ex-demo and had nothing but issues...down to the brakes being downright dangerous (thread on here somewhere...). I had the noisy rear shocks, a host of rattles, terrible paint...and finally the dealer dented the roof when fitting Honda's extremely crap roof bars. All that was just the tip of the iceberg. So I got a BMW. The dealer blew up my engine on that one and gave me a refund. Two years on, I thought I'd give Honda another chance as the Type-R just drives so nice and I love the design.
I have just gotten rid of my 59 plate (owned from new) with 9k miles on it. Rattles (MAJOR ones that do your head in - been in twice and can't be bothered anymore), noisy rear end, clutch has started to judder in traffic when warm, the paint is still utter crap, the shoulders on the seats are wearing through already and have gone shiny, the b-pillars are all scratched from the seatbelt buckles, the carpets are starting to fluff already, the brake issue is still there even though Honda swore to me they had changed the discs on the MY09, third gear is getting notchier by the day, every time I open the boot in the rain water pisses onto my work equipment, the climate control is utter garbage (hot-cold-hot-cold-hot ***), radio reception sucks, the leather on the steering wheel has started peeling off on the bottom.
Bottom line....I FINALLY learned my lesson, and won't be going near another Honda anytime soon.
As a final insult, I went for one last drive today and wondered why my air-con was blowing ice cold air at me even though it was set to 23 deg.....

I know the feeling.. nuff said.. mine was a mare.. bug-ridden to hell - not the new car experience I was after... irrespective of my EP3 differences with others.. if the FN2 had been upto scratch I wouldn't have changed my car.

I went back to my dealer no less than 15 times for various issues - I only owned the car 6-months from new, and did 4,200 miles..

i didn't. the dealer did. and failed miserably...pretty much wrote the car off - nice cross hatch dent pattern in all four corners of the roof.

mould is common....crap design where water sits around the edges and never dries out....solution is to take the lights out and clean em every few months.

it was 7deg when it read 55. then it went down to 34. now it's reading 27deg.
i don't care the car is gone at 11am. common fault. LMAO!!!! There's like 600 "common faults".

I want to see the fallout from the Euro Civic sales in Japan, cuz they definitely will not put up with this kind of crap. The new Jazz and CRV are utter crap as well by all accounts....every dealer I have spoken to says all the Swindon built models are a joke. The workers at Swindon shouldn't be surprised when they all get put out on the street and their joke of a production line gets shut down.

I love the UK. "Ah screw it, that'll do......we used to have an empire you know.....Pfffffffffffff."

P.S. The roof bars were a failed attempt to transport my mountain bike without damaging the interior, which TBH, has carpets made of paper, vulnerable door cards and seat backs, and plastics i can cut through with my fingernail....

what gets me is these so-called "car review" expert websites.....

CIVIC: "owners report no major problems", "Honda have a reputation for quality and the Civic won't disappoint", blablablabla.

even the magazines are in pocket....I personally know of one MAJOR UK car mag that had a long term Type-R along with all the problems (including the rather scary brake warp issue) and never reported any faults with the car.

The civic (especially the type-r) has the potential to be a superb car, if only they would build it properly, had been a bit more careful with schoolboy errors when designing the thing, and didn't use cheap unreliable parts.

I think I speak for almost everyone on this forum when I say I would expect Honda to do better....

Quality of Volkswagen is crap over here. So many technical failures. I would never buy a Volkswagen even if they would have a model that looks good
